It's for certain now, I've got a new passport in my pocket! It's good enough to get me there, but lacking some crucial stamps to get me back home.
I'll deal with that later.
JIBE starts for me on Sunday at 6:55 AM , Heathrow to Istanbul
I'm really looking forward to flying with you guys.

I believe you are joking, but for my own sanity I have to say that we mean the Georgia that was burned down by General Sherman in the United States
Civil War.

JIBE always seems to be evolving. "The pot luck" lunch went to the "weenie roast. And the "weenie roast" has moved out and needs to be replaced with
a.....?
Well what do you all think about a "Pancake and Egg" brunch about 9:30/10:30 ish on Wednesday morning before low tide? A good morning breakfast is
what we'll all need before a long day on the beach!
Bill of fare;
Fresh Buttermilk Pancakes hot off the griddle, farm fresh just layed eggs, little smokie sausages, fresh off the bunch bananas, Almost home made baked
muffins or donuts, a cauldron of fresh DD coffee, freshly squeezed OJ and what ever else anyone would like to bring to the feed.
All prepared by a professional Chef ! Me. And I hope Angus will be my souse chef, and Michael Gaylan my right hand man.
This will be a family friendly event.
This feed needs to be supported with donations and tips. Before the event and during the feed with a generous donation in the jar next to the grill
day of. All proceeds going toward JIBE expenses, permits, etc. Thanking you in advance. Leftovers will be first come, first served.
PLEASE PLEASE respond to this notice ASAP. Participation interest is necessary because We need to know if we need to load the cooking gear by Friday
afternoon.
All buggy events have to have a GREAT feed! We need the fellowship and friendship, and great conversation about kites, buggys, families and the good
life this event will provide. Let's keep this tradition alive at JIBE from this year forward "to infinity and beyond".
Again, we need feedback ASAP. Plans must be made.

Wednesday can work for brunch. Yeah Davis I can be the boy named Sous.
Starting early we can muscle in early on a picnic site at Great Dunes park nearest the parking lot at the north end. That way keeping the campers
nearby.
We have a new Sam's Club in town which could be good source for provisions. Don't forget the bacon.

Right on! Today I roll the car into to Cat Cave and made the full transformation to JIBE configuration: Buggy/ bike rack, tools, tent, cooler,
permits... Oh, and a kite or two.
Tomorrow we move into the Gritz Carlton and become Jekyll Island residents for the week...

All right, the brunch is a go! Please let us know about how many to plan for, please.
Angus says "Wednesday is usually a peak attendance day and the tide is late enough that time of the late morning the beach will not be a distraction."
We'll try to get at the park early enough to glom the picnic pavilion we've used in the past.
Should be a great time for all. Bring the wife's, kids, dogs & cats we'll feed them all. This will also give us a Kodak moment for group pictures.
Also have your buggys there for the shots.
We really want to make this a better kite buggy event that you just happen to bring your family along and not the opposite. Let's keep JIBE alive for
50+ years or more!

Thanks Davis for taking over the big meal, this brunch sounds like it'll be fun!... I'll be there at brunch with my gaggle... wifey and all 4 girls!
Spent much of today loading up both cars, leaving Marietta 1st thing in the morning and should be there around lunch hopefully or shortly after! 2
cars, 2 buggies, 4 bikes, 1 stroller, lotsa clothes and some kites.
Right now it's 1/2 after midnight and I'm sitting in my 3 yr old's room trying to get her back to sleep... hopefully I get some sleep myself.....
coffee will be a necessity!
See some of you Saturday, and others of you later!

Well we completed the tretchorous 12 mile trip from home to the Gritz Carlton on Jekyll. On the way we ran into - or next to - Errol and Anna, on
their way to JI from Chicago. They must have come east on rt 82 in order to see us where they did. They made the trip straight through in 15 hours. We
both checked in at the same time with our respective realtors in the Beach Village on Jekyll to get our house keys.
Weather is severe clear and a cool 70 F, but with winds from NW at 3 -21, which are remnants of the front that just passed through from the west. The
front brought much needed rain last week but not enough to dowse the huge Okeefenokee swamp fire just to the west of us. Temps are supposed to climb
to the high 80's in the next day or two and we expect to sniff a good sea breeze soon.
Ted and Holly McKibben from Maine have been in town for a week and we had a nice dinner with them earlier this week.
We ate at the new Zachry's River House, located at the marina near the bridge over the intacoastal waterway. This is the site that used to be Sea
Jays, and manager DJ Zachry has done a great job expanding the kitchen, the bar and updated the dining areas. The menu and food is great but I miss
the steaks I enjoy at their mainland restaurant (Zachry's Seafood and Steak). JIBE historians may recall that Zachry's got their start as a family
run eatery on Jekyll before the building they were in was torn down for the new convention center and Beach Village shops.
Tonight Joan has a Board of Directors dinner for the Coastal Animal Rescue Society right here on Jekyll at Tortuga Jacks Baja Mexican. For JIBE
newcomers, it's the restaurant that overlooks the sandbar area on the beach that serves as the staging are for JIBE. If anyone is out there tonight,
swing by and say hi; we'll be at the large table of 15 +.
As this "JIBE countdown" thread has just about successfully counted down to the 2017 edition, I'll start a new thread tomorrow as we get ready to open
up the week. I'll actually be missing for the first few hours on Monday afternoon, but I'll leave word how to find Joan and the dogs and the
"JIBE-in-a-box-kit" with necessary waivers and such.
See you on the beach soon!

LOOKIN GOOD JASON!!!
We are here gang!!!! Got here about 3:30 after a Walmart grocery shopping layover.
Spent the afternoon getting the house in order and beds made... then a quick walk down to the beach behind the holiday inn and back home to get the
girls cleaned up and in bed. Spent a fair amount of the evening getting my gear all tuned up and boy am I stoked!
We'll be down to the beach tomorrow,.... I never tried riding on the weekend, how are Sundays?... too busy for riding?
We may not bother with kiting much tomorrow anyhow... my 8 yo is turning 9 tomorrow so we will be doing what she wants.
Angus will you have any waivers printed and with you? I'd like to sign my daughter as a guest pilot like Rich mentioned somewhere else... she is
claiming she wants to learn to ride.
I'm going to take a nap now

Welcome Oliver clan! Happy birthday to the little girl!
We'll be exploring the beach today with various substandard canine units. It may be busy today with people. It has been observed that Jekyll has been
a victim of its own success with growing traffic, but still nothing like St Simons. There is still a lot of space here.
Spencer I'll have the JIBE-in-a-box kit with me now in the car and on the beach anytime we plop a blanket or tent down. In the meantime I'll keep a
JIBE-in-a-pocket kit with me at all times with waivers. Great to hear about the new young rider!
See y'all soon.

ride today in light of the mini person birthday.
