Prism Tensor 5.0 - Like New!

Hey folks,

I foolishly thought a Prism Tensor would be a great addition to my kite collection, here in northern California. Bigger must be better, right?

Yeah. Not for me, too much pull for me so this has to go!

It's been flown a handful of times. Once or twice at Cesar Chavez in Berkley and a few times out at Doran Beach.

Never been wet, in like new condition.

Asking $300obo plus actual FedEx Ground shipping costs to get it to you.
Or, come pick it up in Santa Rosa.

Welcome to the Monkey House FlyInJoe! Always room for a few more good chimps. Good username btw.

The PKF family is full to bursting with folks that have owned this very kite at one point or another. The Prisms were my first introduction to four line static traction kite flying and I too once owned this very kite along with 3 and 4 meter varieties in the same line. Like yourself, I too found it too big for safe and comfortable static flying.

You've probably already been perusing the various threads and sections throughout this website, but folks new to PKF (as you seem to be as this was your first post) are inevitably directed here first: http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=28759 . May I do the honors this time.

In short, what you will read about (and hopefully heed) is advice pointing you towards a fixed bridle kite in the 2-3 square meter size range. As you've already learned, bigger doesn't necessarily translate to better, particularly as an early kite in your quiver that will likely be used for static flying. If you buy a nice 2-3m kite it will serve you well for learning the basics of traction kite flying, and should you advance (and we hope you do!) to mobile traction kiting then this basic kite will make for a superb "high wind" kite for those special days.

Please don't be one of those guys that wants to get right into jumping! Folks that know me and read my posts (how could they not?) will understand my making this comment immediately due to some recently reinforced biases I have in that area. :o

PS. It's nice form here on PKF to first introduce yourself and tell us a little about you and what you want to get out of this great hobby of ours before going right into selling something. You'll find lots of folks here eager to welcome newbies into the fold. We're a great family in that way. You mentioned that you have other kites. What do you have, how do you use them, and what do you want to do kiting wise in the furure? Welcome aboard!

FlyinJoe,

Are you still selling this? I'm interested.

New to flying a kite this size, but have gotten my control chops on some smaller 2m and 3.1s. I'm looking to upgrade to a bigger kite, as a step transition to snow/kite board. Planning on using it over the summer to skud, then in winter see if it has the pull to do some snow stuff. Do you think this will work?

I weigh in at about 180, and am happy to be dragged across a few fields here in East Washington state!

Cheers.
C3.

Hey Joe,

I didn't get the U2U! Dunno why!

Anyhow, In that small period of time, I'd cast my lines out in the forum and found a Blade V (4.9m) at a similar price point. Really sorry to bite the hook, then swim away! I accept that quite poor form on my behalf!

I've been flying it this weekend in lowish winds (8mph) and I am having a ball!

I hope you make a quick sale! I'm trying to get some friends involved so if any catch the bug I'll send them your way!

Cheers
C3

No problem C3!
Not your fault I wasn't responsive!!!

Looks like I'll need to break this out, snap a few more pics of it, and hope that someone else might want it.

Price is OBO folks. Make an offer!

Reading your post, would you be interested in a trade for a brand new Prism Tensor 3.1? May be more in the range of what you're looking for.

I've actually got a Stylus 2.8, so my small foil needs are met.

The job hunt is quieter than I was expecting here in Oklahoma.
Any interest at say... $250, shipped?

I'm afraid if I take it out for photos I won't want to part with it!

Kite ?

FlyinJoe? What's up with your Tensor? Is it just the kite, or whole package?
