Hello all!

I am trying to start making preparations for my first power kiting event, and it looks like JIBE will be the easiest to pull off for me this year, no matter how I do it.

Is there anyone from the Lake Michigan area that plans to drive to JIBE? I have a fellow kiter here in my neighborhood that is contemplating going with me and driving down there, but he is not a sure thing. I do not have a car currently because I got rid of it when I moved to Chicago. I am trying to avoid checking kites/buggy onto a plane or shipping them, as the cost of doing either of those is ridiculous compared to strapping it to the top of a car and hitting the road for a few hours.

I will pay you in gas money and beer! I might even throw some wieners in for good measure!

I'd like to go but not sure at this point. If I go I'll let you know, but you would still have to get to indy somehow.

I could possibly figure that much out. How soon could you decide on going? Even if my friend still wants to go, we could possibly caravan that way and go as travel buddies.

As it stands right now, I can only get that Thursday and Friday off work, so I would be leaving Wednesday straight after work if I am driving. I am going for sure, but the method of travel and the price of travel will be determined on whether or not I can get a ride with someone. Otherwise I will have to fly down there and have my buggy shipped.

It looks like my original plan is probably going to work out in the end. I am planning to carpool with a local kiter friend. He has a Subaru with a bike rack that perfectly fits my buggy. He is a land boarder, and between the two of us, we have a pretty sweet selection of kites to choose from. We are going to be driving nonstop from Chicago to Jekyll to arrive uber late Tuesday evening. Technically it will be early Wednesday morning. We have a campsite booked until Sunday.

I can't wait to meet you guys too. Sometimes I wish I still lived near Atlanta where I grew up, and then I remember how crappy the wind is there, and how it blows every day here in Chitown... :P . JIBE will most likely be a regular event for me for years to come. I get more excited about it every day the closer it gets.

YES!!! That is right! I almost forgot that nearly everyone at PKF is onboard the Toxic wagon now. Haha, I can't wait! We will so have to have a special segment in someone's video this year about the Toxic Train.
