I'm planning to go this year, and this will be my first attendence of kitting event ever; every excited!

I've just read the guide, so All I need to do is to send the waiver form and register for the event, and I assume the $22 covers all 4 days?

http://www.ikitesurf.com/windandwhere.iws?regionID=205&s... in mind JI runs almost due north/south, 0-180 degrees so this wind and direction rocks it.........also good speed and direction for the bigger inflatables, HQ Matrix, and Flysurfers..........look forward to some H20 time with Phree, NF Leech, Greg, Chris, and Scott.......

NFish,

The $22 covers the entire event to include your event t shirt and Im sure Angus has a few other items he could comment on.............great event, look forward to meeting you there........winds permitting Ill be on the water most of the time so my fixed bridle quiver and buggy will be available to fly/ride..........

Jekyll, or the stretch of beach we use most is actually closer to NNE to SSE so an ESE wind is the sweet spot for dead on-shore. But because of slight bend in the beach at the sand-bar (right at the staging area), any wind with an east component is useable in some fashion.

Formal registration will be up in the next day or so and this year only pre-registered participants get a t-shirt. Those who walk-on with no pre-registration get a discounted rate with no shirt. That fee will cover cost of event insurance and free cold drinking water on the beach.

It's cheap because Angus is a swell guy and doesn't charge for his time to organize the event

JIBE is on my plan to try to make it this year ... expect some freebies from VTT whether I can make it or not. I will send some stuff to Angus if I can't show up personally.

Here's a weird question,...

My wife and kids will be coming late Friday. I will have a tandem and am certain my kids (and maybe wifey) will want to ride in the tandem. But I'm certain they won't be riding on their own. Will they require a registration fee as well?

That's some kind of weird loophole?!?!?!?!:puzzled:

Another tandem. Awesome.

I really enjoy giving people rides. Part of it is getting to share the joy. Whether my passenger is old or young I get a reaction when I drop the kite through the power. Sometimes I get screams from my passengers. It really is marvelous.

The other bit I like is the excuse to fly bigger kites and feel even more strain. I switched to a load-transferring rig that puts the front wheel weight of the rear bug onto my rear axle. It allows me to handle so much more power. The pull is insane and the acceleration hardly feels diminished.

It's such a rush.

No registration needed for tandem passengers. They should be covered under insurance as spectators. Pilots with kites or sails and wheels under them should register since that provides insurance for themselves and liability coverage for injury to others including the ipublic.

Out of curiosity, if I get a NAPKA permit for my use at jibe, will I still need to sign up and register?
I will register anyway, as I want to help promote Jibe and support you in all the work you freely donate to the sport, along with freebies from a bunch of companies including BKK.

I have a rumble seat on my Apexx for those that want a ride, is that going to be considered a tandem rider?

I am getting excited about seeing all the names here on the forum, in case you dont know what I look like, I will be wearing a kite name piece of clothing. PL, Ozone, Flexifoil, HQ, and a few of the great ones like PKD, MG CrooZer, Zebra, Libre, and of course Big Kid Kites. (you can wear a great piece of kite clothing also, find me on the beach and ask me how)
This is going to be fun.

Jeff- Jibe has not been a NAPKA event in the past and dont think it will be this year, Angus has always just purchased a seperate insurance policy for the event so registration will still be required. Any proceeds over cost have always gont to the turtle rehab center on the island- which i suggest you visit while there. Look forward to meeting you at both events

Your right, it isnt a NAPKA event. The nice thing about NAPKA is that I can go anywhere and hold my own event and have the insurance and the backing of NAPKA. I will be spending the better part of 13 weeks on the road covering most of the US and you had better believe that if there is a place to fly, I will give it a shot. Who knows, might find a new place and create a new event while I am out and about.

And yes the wife wants to see the turtles, as long as they dont wear masks and yell "Cowabungu".

I'll only be spending about half that time on the road, but keep me posted if you find great places to fly. The return trip is left pretty open to wander.

Yeh, saw that i was wondering if there was a pay online registration form. I'll send money and waiver form via mail. I've done that before. :)
By the way what is the extra lunch? Do you match the peanut butter and tomato sandwich that I pack or do you offer something good. I'll pay for something good!

do wives pay registration if they may only be a tandem rider? I know they pay for tours, etc.

I'll do the turtle tour, with or without mask and cowabuga. just tell me if i pay now or at the event. mail or online.

I'll try to have registration links up later today- several folks have asked.

There are no group meals. I have gradually deconstructed and simplified the event over the years. If you found a mention of a lunch, it is an artifact remaining on an old PDF that I missed removing. In an environment such as Jekyll there are so many good distractions that any group event is like herding cats. Group dinners are tough because people tend to fall asleep in their plates after a long day on the beach in the sun.

There will be a group tour of the Turtle Center and that will be at the same $10 cost as if you went yourself, but we benefit as a group by being accompanied by a specialist who can explain things and answer questions one-on-one. It will be on Friday or Saturday Morning at high tide when the beach is not as usable. Details to follow.

No fees for wives or family tagging along, even in a tandem. Registration only for those who have BOTH a kite or sail in hand AND some kind of wheels under them.

Registration is up and ready. Sorry to take so long but i was having trouble with my FTP client this weekend, keeping me from uploading the new document.

The portion of the JIBE web page with registration info can be found here.

To go direct to purchase registration on my secure server, click here.

Keep in mind that this year, the only way to get a T-shirt is to pre-register. If you register on site, you will pay less and not get a shirt. I might have a couple of extras for sale but there is no guarantee. (tired of losing my shirt on shirts)

Frankiter. Is Aunt B tooling up the factory? Being in the manufacturing business as you and both are, you know the value of scheduling and planning. I think a test batch should be made and sent to me for quality control before release to the public. Can't be too careful. :cool2:

Chris,
I can assure you we take quality control very seriously and keep up with the latest testing methods. I personally make multiple checks of every batch before it ever leaves the kitchen. And we have even started what we like to call the "Rogue Trucker Lick Test". That's right, every cookie gets licked.

I'll check with the CEO to see if she feels the need to outsource any testing to an independent laboratory.
