I got 3 hours with the new buggy and the Crossfire II this afternoon with Crieke. I can't wait to get some coastal winds for 2 1/2 days. We'll
either come in Thursday night or mid Friday morning. Can't wait. I'll be the one on the beach with the big grin. :D

OK gang, weather is good for the weekend! Wind is tough to call, though. NOAA says North, Weather.com says West. But at least it is clear that we
have wind from somewhere and Friday at 20 knots!!
Everything else is dialed in: Parking passes, Sea Turtle Center Tour, Dinner Saturday. The Jekyll Island Authority has been awesome.
See you on the beach!!

we are going separate ways for this weekend.

OK at least now the oracles agree that winds will be WSW Friday and Saturday, nuking over 15 kts on Friday- Not as good as East, but I'll take it
over North any day. We should be good for fully lit distance runs. Stoked!

yep, the NWS forecast confirms the same conditions here on Friday. I pasted this link for all you attending. If youre heading into the water (WSW side
off there I believe) watch the along shore rips. The west component should clean the water up but you never know about the rips. I had the Scorpion
out and surfed yesterday.................................. it was strong!

I'll have a new kite this weekend too. UPS delivers our Montana III 9.5m tomorrow. I'm first in line for a carnival ride on the neo when you start
sharing Angus. I buggied for 2 hours today so I'm really anticipating some hard sand that I can slide on with some precision. I"ve spent about 5
hours in the buggy on hard dry grass with somewhat bumpy dirt underneath. The smooth hard sand is going to be heavenly, even with a west wind.:wee:

Man, I'm useless today. I was tinkering with the buggy and loading some things in the car, and before I knew it, I had filled the preloaded cooler
with ice. Oh well, it'll be good and cold already when I top it off tomorrow.
How is the gasoline availability down on the coast? Someone called talk radio here yesterday saying they drove to Orlando from Augusta and couldn't
find gas anywhere along the interstate till they got to Orlando. I wonder if I should pack a few cans to make sure I can make it home. Several CS
chains here have been out for 3-4 days now.

Our whole area ran out today. No station within 12 miles of my house has gas. I have 180 miles left and will head south in the hopes of finding gas
before I run out. you might see me buggying down I-16 if I run out.

Despite the predictions of west winds, the sea breeze kicked in for southeast on-shore wind at up to 12 mph for a good part of the afternoon. Ripstop
filled the air and we had over a mile to ourselves with few people besides spectators viewing from the dunes with mouths agape.
Air traffic control was a real challenge but it was nice to see that much color in the sky.
Chad (goldenmd) stacked two Venoms and tore up the sky on both water and landboard. Crazy.
I got a lot of miles in with my new HQ Neo 11m .
Wexler Muse was ripping up the beach on a landboard and his new Montana 9.5m.
More follies today. Pics to follow...

Wow, what an awesome time. The winds were much better for Saturday allowing some fast runs to the north and then work your way slightly upwind back
to camp. My buggy skills improved dramatically having lots of time and smooth winds to work with, along with pointers from the more experienced. By
Saturday afternoon, I was modulating long slides with fully powered turns. It was a real thrill to watch Wexler "get it" with his landboard. I gave
him a 5 minute talk about the wind and the direction he needed to roll and he was gone, holding his line and sliding to a stop to head off in the
other direction.
I commented to several people that they could try harder to hide their enthusiasm evident by the huge grins they had when riding by. I was excited to
fly the new NEO 11m that Angus got on Friday. It looks awesome in the sky and flies like it has an engine in it.
Many thanks to Angus for his preparation and hospitality at a great event. Even the wind was on cue.

We got there late on thurs. and hit the beach Fri morning. Winds were light on fri but i pulled the old trusty Pro foil 5.5 and rolled my buggy all
over the beach. Sat started out light winds so back out with the 5.5 . the winds picked up around 2 2:30. I kept flying my 5.5 and got some great
speed runs from one end to the other. .sunday we hit the beach for a little bit winds were light so we went exploring the island some Some great
things to see there. We had a blast this weekend buggying and meeting everyone. We look forword to next year. Maybe see yall at Tresure Island this
upcomming year for some buggy action
A big thanks to Angus for a great event

Angus! my friend, fantastic time! great to get together with all the fliers. Saturday afternoon ride was nice, breeze was right on time, tide was
right . 10-12mph perfect for land work. daily dose of venom always good. tight crew everything flowed nicely.
Great to meet everyone.
We all got to play in the planet's gift of breeze. Its why we are here.
GOOD SPOT!

Here is one of my favorite pictures from the weekend. JIBE was Wexler's first chance to really have some good wind and a depower kite to hone his
skills with the landboard. I'm really proud of how he progressed and how handily he picks up kites and makes flying them look easy. This is in his
first 20 minutes with his new Montana. I've heard multiple different people make comments about big things to come from him in the future as easily
as he progresses at this stuff.

Nice pics! It looks like you guys had a blast. What a great playground. How much wind was Wexler landboarding in with that 9.5 Montana?
Also, I'd really recommend wearing sneakers or something similar when landboarding to protect your feet. :!: I think jumping off the board at speed
would be a pretty easy way to bust a toe or two or otherwise injure your foot.

Thanks for the advice. Wexler hasn't been really sure what would be best to wear for shoes. I guess the straps are adjustable to accommodate
whatever you stuff in there.

OK gang, here are some pics...
http://www.coastalwindsports.com/JIBE2008Photos.html
Thanks again for everybody that took a chance on this event.
I'm working with the Jekyll Island Authority for JIBE 2009 and am currenlty shooting for early May for the following reasons...
No Russian Roulette with tropical storms
More reliable wind patterns
Little conflict with other events (Wildwood, AKA)
Before summer "crowds"
I can't wait another whole year!
Stay tuned for details...

Great pictures Angus! I'm thrilled that the second annual JIBE might come as soon as May. I'm afraid I might be back before then though. That sand
is so nice for the buggy. I can't seem to get my SUV to powerslide quite the same as the buggy.
