Wooo Hooo!
Race :wow: did I say Race
Truth is I'll be pleased as can be just to ride with a fellow 2 footer. :wee:
I expect to take my 2.5 and 9m FB, NPW and 7m Pulse from my Sig..
I hope to fly ......... everything I can get my hands on :smug:
Arc Arc
I may be wrong here but Ivanpah has special rules about vehicles that aren't wind powered or RC aircraft. I see people will bring an electric scooter
as a recovery vehicle so Electric may be O.K. ?? If not you can go on Roach lake with them for sure.

Hey Terrablader
I am not sure what a rollercycle is but you might need to check with the blm to see if it is allowed on the lake bed.

Other than the road and the parking lot, no motorized items on the lakebed. So no helicopters, rc cars, electric scooters, etc. Hate to be the
bearer of bad news...

No worries !
Roach lake is right there on the North side of the hotel. I would be happy to join you on Roach lake even though I'm not so sure the rollercycle is
exactly my thing ?
Mornings are often windless so it's possible to get the best of both worlds in the same day at Primm !
It is not a NABX issue but that the BLM of Needles has some rules set down to protect Ivanpah for wind powered sport enthusiasts. Rules can make
things a bit more difficult but these ones are there to HELP our sport.

Hey Sailors,
Yes it is sad but true about no electric scooters on Ivanpah.
But this is only the protected east side of Ivanpah.
The west side, accessed from behind Whiskey Pete's, is open and unrestricted.
You will find the playa dust will seriously degrade the performance of your scooter.
It gets into all the gears and sprockets and ...
Oh never mind. If you bring it, you'll find out.
Roach Dry Lake, on the Nevada side of Primm, on the eastern side of the freeway, has been closed for over a year now.
Rumor is that Clark County wants to use the dry lake bed as a staging area for the preliminary work on their proposed Ivanpah Valley Regional Airport.
Obviously their college-educated engineers have never seen the lake bed wet.
The rail line runs through Roach and the eastern side of Roach is open for use.
Turn off the frontage road at the microwave tower and follow that road over the tracks and down onto the lake bed.
No permits needed.

The rollercycles are happy off the playa on surrounding terrain. used them many times in the desert, right across anything.
no recovery vehicles, even electric? for dead wind and misshaps? thats pretty strict. well better that than the mad max free for all on elmos i
guess.
.
Bladerunner looking foward to seeing you there. have you seen any of my youtubes? I liked yours. The rigs are fun to ride when there is not wind,
also serve as a nice means of getting from a to b.
I rode to the beach last weekend with my electric, then kite skated and then rode home (topping out around 26mph on flats) was a blast, even steep
uphills at 18mph, kind of turns the world upsidedown accelerating up hill. the other fun is going down ski trails in summer with just ski poles, that
one is the most lethal of the three. about 20-30 mph is enough for me, I collapsed a lung and broke some ribs once on my skate and being 46 i dont
like to fall. Do you skate fast like Bob Childs does?
what foot size are you i will bring a spare set and some extra ski boots.

OH YES,
I have been watching your site and videos for a long time now !
My main goal is to be good and safe with all rides and all type of kites. From snow to water.
I look up to Bob and his speeds. I like to go fast but also like to feel I'm doing it in a controlled manor. I found the low 30mph range to feel very
safe and comfortable on Ivanpah's ideal terrain. I clocked just in under 40mph on my GPS but others swear I hit higher speeds chasing them last year ?
That is on the Coyotes, of course. I wonder about just how fast I can actually push those small wheels ? At least if 1 blows out I have 5 more to get
home on ??
As I suggested before I'm more about sharing the stoke and the knowledge than serious racing or land speed records.
I'm size 9. Unfortunately I can't bring my own ski boot because I'm at the limit for the airlines weight.
Be sure and bring it all! If we can't use it on the Multi-mile roadway at Ivanpah we have lots of options right there.
I look forward to meeting up ! :wee:

Hey Sailors,
Let's be perfectly clear...
Ivanpah Dry Lake is part of the Mojave Desert Preserve - Protected Species Habitat.
The eastern side of the lake bed (east of the Interstate Freeway that cuts through the top portion) is restricted to wind-powered craft only.
That access carries restrictions:
Motor vehicles are restricted to a narrow access route along the eastern shoreline.
We may not enter into the surrounding desert.
In fact, we must maintain a 50' distance from the lake shore vegetation.
So no hiking or riding in the surrounding desert.
No scooters (electric or gas) or r/c toys or kiddy cars or such in camp.
Motorcycles are permitted only if they are your sole means of transport.
I know it sounds mean but remember this is the only lake bed set aside for wind-power use and the rules help keep it as pristine as possible.
The no vending rule is also a good idea.
It helps keeps the event about riding and buggies and people.
This includes non-kite/buggy item vending.
Gifting is allowed.
Stop by City Hall and have a drink.

Thanks Corey for your reminder of the rules. I myself just got my own permit since we will be arriving early and took the time to read the rules that
were sent with the permit.
