lbs. Per Line

Hey,
The question is, how do the lines on a quad kite get affected individually. Lets say for example, weighing around 160lbs and owning a quad kite, if i were to pull on the lower left string, being x ft long and 150lbs of resistance, would it snap? Is the angle of pull and sum of all linse cumulative in anyway?
thanks!

Of course the majoity of stress is applied to the top lines carrying nearly the full load. The brake lines are stressed by degree while turning or tuning the trailing edge.

Each line is stressed individually though the load of the kite is distributed relatively to each of the lines... top lines more than brake lines.

However, what I think you're asking is will your brake lines snap if you use #150 line. Personally I use #150 brakelines on all my kites up to 5 meters in size. 7 and 9 Meter kites get #200. My top lines are all #300 Powerline regardless of size and I have had no trouble in 4 years. I would use heavier top lines for kitesurfing but the same brakelines.

I'm sure others can get more into the scientific nature of kiteline. I just do whatever works and don't sweat the details.

i dont think much pull would come from the brake lines if they are used as brakes tho

thats why some kites only come with 100lb brake lines

the kite loses pull wen u use brakes doesnt it but the pull is not actually transferring to the brake lines because the kites angle changes and reduces the amount of pull on the lines

(bit complicated really but have u ever been pulled by your brake lines?)

currently borrowing radsail 5m off m8 cos i need sum cash for a kite
