Of course the majoity of stress is applied to the top lines carrying nearly the full load. The brake lines are stressed by degree while turning or
tuning the trailing edge.

Is the angle of pull and sum of all linse cumulative in anyway?
thanks! |
Each line is stressed individually though the load of the kite is distributed relatively to each of the lines... top lines more than brake lines.
However, what I think you're asking is will your brake lines snap if you use #150 line. Personally I use #150 brakelines on all my kites up to 5
meters in size. 7 and 9 Meter kites get #200. My top lines are all #300 Powerline regardless of size and I have had no trouble in 4 years. I would use
heavier top lines for kitesurfing but the same brakelines.
I'm sure others can get more into the scientific nature of kiteline. I just do whatever works and don't sweat the details.
