Les Iles de la Madeleine - Gaspe
Howdy,
Me and the wife are planning to spend a few weeks traveling through Quebec in August. Does anyone have any experience traveling in Gaspe and/or Les
Iles de Madeleine?
We plan to car camp as we go. We'll have a buggy and kites with us.
Any advice, experience, etc. that you can share would be greatly appreciated. Please U2U me or you can get me at dillon23@comcast.net.
Thanks in advance. Cheers,
joe

Hi Joe
If you go to Les Iles de La Madelaine, make sure you have reservations for the ferry from Prince Eward Island.
Les iles are a awesome site for buggy and kitesurf.
Gaspe is so big, so you have some spots available but I suggest you post to kitezone.ca for information.
It's a french site, but you may ask your questions in English no problem

Thank you for the note. I have been told the same thing by several people about making advance ferry arrangements. I am hoping to camp when we are
there, we'll see.
French is not a problem for us...I will check out the site.
Thanks again. Cheers,
j

the 'maggies' are awesome! Great place for kite activities! I have camped there during two trips I just pulled into one of the parking spots and
camped beside the car. No problems at all.

20 years ago when we last went up there 99% of the locals only spoke French. Things likely have changed since then, but it helps to brush up on your
French anyways when traveling through the Gaspe. Do you kitesurf? There's some awesome spots for flat water and waves in New Brunswick, PEI and Mag
Island. We only got as far as PEI last summer, things have really grown there in 20 years. I believe an international kitesurfing competition is
scheduled to be held there sometime this summer.

Barnes yep we are lucky here things are quite relaxed in places. I was out one summer and looking for a camping spot in rural nova scotia and asked a
home owner if I could put my tent up in her field. She told me there were tons of ants there and to put it in her backyard! Then arrived in the
afternoon saying she never locked the door and if I wanted to use the bathroom just let myself in, she showed me where the towels were! I got fresh
coffee in the morning too. It is a great place to be. The winds are generally either cranking or not at all.
