Southeast Washington?

I live in Pasco. Is there anyone around here? Lots of flat land and wind but no kites. I see a couple of paragliders every now and then. I even saw a parasailer on the river.

I'm in Yakima, do you have any good wide open areas to fly down there? Give me a shout.

I am still new and none of the spots here compare to the beach but there are a couple. I have been trying to mark them on one of those google maps, but I haven't figured it out. I get to Seaside about once a year but that isn't enough.

U2U sent. So where do you fly in Yakima? Looks like you have a better quiver than I do. I am not sure how good the spots here are. I havent found the perfect one yet. Maybe we can all get together and fly.

Here is a link to a map that shows area kite spots. Add your spots and maybe we can find some great places.

Eli, My buggy is in the mail but those fields up here are all pretty uneven due to the crops. I am looking for some that aren't and I have heard about a couple sod farms in the area too. I am still looking for those. If I can find any good spots I will mark them. If we get any snow those fields would be great.

I found another area.

http://www.localkitespots.com/kitesurfing/Washington#

The code to embed the map doesn't seem to work.

It is Horn Rapids in Southeast Washington

I flew at the Pasco Dunes the other night and the wind was about 4mph. My son flew my 3m Legend and got some scuds in on the dunes. There aren't any obstructions from most directions for miles so the wind was clean and steady. I can't wait to try it in a little more wind, but the wind only seems to blow when I am working.

Stetson05, give me more detail on these two areas. Location, etc. Where at Horn rapids? And are you talking about the Juniper Dunes area? Got that from Google maps. Are there flat areas there as well. I'll watch the forecasts and might show up down there one of these days. I'm hard to pin down to a specific day and time. Send me a contact # and I'll call if I start heading that way. Might be a change in weather patterns coming so maybe we will get some wind.

If you follow the link from above, it goes to a google map of Washington with a bunch of balloon looking things. If you look around the Tricities you should see the ones I have added. On the upper Right of the map you should see a satellite button to change to an image.
Also I use this website I use to check wind. The info updates about every hour.

http://hms.pnl.gov/realtime/

Let me know if they don't. I will probably be at road 100 on Saturday around 10 am. I have to work later that day but I can get a little time in.

Hi Stetson,

Sorry about the embedding maps code, it's up and running now but it only works in another web page, not in this forum (phpbb does notsupport embedded iframes).

Also, thanks for your spot posts, everyone appreciates your input on the maps.

Meanwhile, here's a direct link to Pasco Dunes, and Horn Rapids, with live weather updates.

To get these embedded links that link directly to a spot (sorry not maps in the forum),

1) Select the map from the home page, or menu (Washington in this case)
2) Click on the spot, and zoom in to the level you want to share
3) Click the icon at the top of the left hand window
4) Cut and paste the phbb code that appears

When someone clicks on the link the spot will appear, centered in the map, and at the zoom level you selected. The current and 6 day forecast will automatically appear. You can test your post using the "Preview Post" button in the forum.

Hey Rip,
If you have followed any of the links to the kite spots it will take you to a map of washington. Then you can look at the spots that are just across the border. I really like the site to show me new areas. Good Luck

Wil,
Thanks alot
