I'll step back in with caution. The image of those broken bones has had a lasting effect on me. But I'll be back in the air for sure. My attention now is on getting a buggy. I have 5 days coming up at Anastasia State Park in St Augustine. It is a wide desolate beach with hard packed sand. I know I can't get the money together for a buggy in the same week I am buying the blade, but I might go begging at the kite shop down there. They have an HQ team rider there that might feel sorry for me. I wouldn't even mind renting one to be able to step up my skills that week. I'd like to get to the point that the top speed I could attain didn't feel life threatening. Right now, if I get over 10 mph, I get antsy. Buggy or not, there will definitely be some jumping!

Oh man. I didn't even think about that Angus! And I drive right by you anyway. I'll take whichever one you are willing to part with. Looks like we would come by that Sunday the 6th and come back through on the 12th. You continue to go above and beyond. Thanks.

That's what I am talking about! Alway's someone willing to help out a fellow kiter indeed. Way cool angus. Bob are you going to be in the buggy with that Blade? Ya know I love my Blade flying static but I hardly fly it now in the bug I am not ready to get air in it. it is way more about traction than lift in the bug for me at this point.

remember that supposed urban legend about the guy who tied a bunch of helium balloons to his lawn chair, sat down with a six pack of brew and a pellet gun, and took off?

Now that you have that picture in your head, imagine BeAmerBob, floating ever so gently over the atlantic.

Say, will a Blade that size show up on Norad?

I covered a gala bat kite (like Airhunters ) with aluminum foil once to see if I could cause any trouble with the radar at Memphis Intl. which was about 5 miles away. No this wasn't last month. I was 12. About Wexler's age. Doh! Where is that Crossfire? WEXLER!

Had the blade for two days now. Yesterday the wind was about 25 and then it rained. Today there was nothing after work. Tomorrow I'm on the road. Saturday promises 13 mph. It's time for me to fly!

I have a line on a PL but Angus' Flexi might spoil me too much. He is supposed to come to the beach to play with us one day, so I might get to try both and form an opinion. I know, I know, you can't believe I could form an opinion.:saint:

And thanks for the congrats. It's nice to have such a big deal to me be a big deal to others here.

Yeah, looks like the stars are lining up for a little happening here on the weekend of the 17th in May. Low tide is early afternoon, which is perfect. Prevailing weather patterns should be locked in to give us a shot at some decent off-shore wind by then (no gaurantees). I have some other customers from the Northeast shopping for a weekend down here and will try to steer them to that date.

A while back I had been thinking about an organized event in May but got too nervous about putting everything together in time, so have moved to early September for the First Annual Jekyll Island Buggy Bash. But if something happens by itself in May....

I was teacherBob today. Taught two cousins to fly. They were good at first at waving their arms around, and then after 10-15 minutes of telling them to keep their elbows in, they got it. Then it was time to break out the blade. Lots of oohs and ahhs. The wind was an exciting 3 mph gusting to 15. I tried for awhile and while I would be working the kite to keep it up I would be lofted 10 seconds later. I decided to pack it up to fly another day.
