Help us design a new logo

The PKF community has some very creative members, so we invite you to help us create a new logo for this forum. Anyone who is interested may design and submit a logo that they would like to see displayed in the forum header.

This is not a contest and we don't have prizes, but we will be happy to link to you if you have a design site to promote. Otherwise you may bask in the pleasure of having millions marvel at your creative design. ;-)

We are looking for something simple yet eye catching and representative of our power kiting community. You may design just the logo or logo with text ("The Power Kite Forum").

Depending on participation, we hope to make a selection by April 1. Be prepared to send photoshop or illustrator work files plus fonts.

A big thanks to all who participate.

I assume since it's a web forum we needn't worry about reproduction in black & white, stability through a fax machine etc?

I was just playing around in Flash. I think I have good ideas, but I'm not good at executing them. The high res links are below them.

I emailed one to you. Question though are you looking for something more serious of something more cartoonish like Hazards? Or something in-between like the current one?

I'd say we're interested in a serious logo such as what we're using now. The new NABX logo is also a good one. Can be simple yet should make an impression - and unique. A lot to ask, I know. It should represent the nature of a kite traction sports community.

I'm going to miss the old logo. My first real buggy setup was a Gold Quadrifoil XL and a Peter Lynn buggy.

I missed my old Q-foils so much I just bought NOS XS & XM Pros for NABX (thanks Glenn).

Bob, I'm stealing your old avatar and changing the foil to red/black, and the buggy to blue to match my new foils and old full race. Hurry up with your own new logo/avatar please. :frog:

I was not aware how one was chosen in the past,I've heard opinoins and ideas from past events and was wondering how to get involved.I plan on meeting with everyone to get a sence of what "Everyone will dig. All my work is freehand or airbrush .Knowing my wife is a clothes designer and taking some awards for my artwork I'm hoping to come up with some apparel thats not an Iron on .I still have every shirt from past events and thought ? I can make a cool logo with some nice embroided pullovers ,shirts, lite jackets, ect, silkscreen or Iron ons are nothing like what my wife designs and the stiching with a logo would be dynomite. Even orders with personal names was not hard to get done.My wife and me wouldn't do it for profit, just the sake of being a part of something with pride .I have a coat and shirt made with Blokart stuff we put together.Logo the easy part but with everyone input I hope .I'm there 10 days so you'll get sick of me asking what you'd like to as a logo.Too late for this year unless ya want me to give it a wack.I just got done playing with the windshield on blokart and I'll send you a pic or you'll see it at the Playa.anything I can do ,don't ask, just tell me what I can do!

Once we've received all the samples, we'll likely post them for a general vote. The current logo will be included in the vote.

Reason for a new logo? Well, the current is several years old and folks may be getting tired of it. We also just updated the forum scripts and added features... a big programming update with new themes... so might as well update the logo too.

Crash: This new logo is for the Power Kite Forum not the NABX.

Dave: You're welcome to use a variant of the current logo as your avatar.

Only received a couple so far. Hope to get a few more. I'm sure people are focused on getting to the NABX so we'll extend the submission period until after the event.:sniff:

Well, I'll have to admit, I think the current is really good!! But, then I'm a newbie....and I haven't been looking at it for several years. I can't draw a stickman, so good luck to "us" from the artists out there among us!

We'll keep receiving them until after folks have returned from the NABX and had a chance to send theirs too. Then we'll have a general vote (in about 1 week).

It's about time to wrap up the logo selection. We'll receive submissions until Monday and then will post them all for a general vote. If anyone still has something in the works and needs more time, let me know. Thanks to all who have sent in logos. Keep 'em coming!
