Any ME snowkiters around?
Well, once this 45-degree weather takes a hike and we get some frozen lakes, I'm wondering if there are any experienced snowkiters up North here that
would like to go out and have a few good belly laughs watching this newbie get his ass kicked. I'm new to this game and have only flown my Beamer 3.6
TSR on grass without a harness, and have no idea how to tackle a snow-covered lake or field on skis. I figure if I could even just watch
someone who knows what they're doing, I'd probably save myself countless hours of frustration. Anyone, anyone?

Lake Champlain @ Burlington, VT is my goto place. If you can do weekend trip, it's a worth place to check out. Many locals ride there as well.
Check out www.stormboarding.com for lake and snow condition.

Looks like fun, but... does that web site come in English? My French is as good as my Russian. Magog is about 4.5 hours from where I live in Maine
(near Bangor,) but that's a reasonable drive for a weekend of fun!

sorry this site is only in french:
so here is an Altavista transalation of this page:
The Cut of Quebec de Ski Kite return for a second year with a circuit of 3 handles which will be held as from the end January. At the end of this
article, you will be able to download the technical rules describing the various regulations, the aiming systems and scores to be withdrawn and the
new courses proposed into 2008 as much for the WISSA that for the Cut of Quebec which adopts similar rules and courses. One summarizes the Cut of
Quebec and his Provincial Championship as follows: Opened to all the amateurs and to professionals - Each stage will be held over three days of races
to make it possible to hold a maximum of tests on each handle. It is thus to say that the races will be held as from Friday 13 hours if the conditions
of surface and winds allow it already at this time. It is not obligatory to take part in all the races and all the handles. Systems of withdrawal of
scores were adopted to balance the various sleeves and to support the participation. The freestyle will have its place of choice there but in
demonstration. Prices of participation will be allotted to the best results for all the classes on each stage. The classification of the Cut of Quebec
will count four categories with the result that 4 cuts will be given for the year to gaining each 4 category is Man-Ski, Man-Board, Woman-Ski,
Woman-Board. A minimum of 5 registered voters will be necessary to create one of these categories. The best participants in cumulative of the
competitions will receive their trophies at the time of the final stage next March. Medals and other prices of participation will be given on each
handle. The races disputed cash for the championship will be of type triangle, long distance and speed measured with the radar. It is during the daily
meetings of pilots that will be announced the races held at the time of each day of competitions according to decisions' of the committee of races. A
recall of the payments of each test will be made at these meetings which will be also used to confirm your official inscriptions with the races and
demonstrations. The inscription for each stage is $25.00 and you will have to fill a form with renunciation. Obligatory signature of the parents so
less than 18 years. The inscriptions will be accepted the three days of each handle. The opinions of race will be given at once that the organizations
of each stage, will be able to confirm their particular rules and details of inscription, lodging etc... The important thing is to have fun and take
part while having the occasion to be measured with best. However if you hope to find yourselves in the race with the provincial title of your
category, sharpen your boards well and prepare well not to miss any departure by races on the 3 stages. Competition is likely to be strong in this
beautiful season which am come from there!
==> overall I am impressed by this Altavista
anyway you dont have to register to the event if you just want to come, and watch, talk with people, or just snowkite with others. Many people just
come to meet, and snowkite without entering the race. There is plenty of space on the lake.
Hope the condtions will permit the event.

I'm in Portland ME and go to several places depending on the conditions.
When Sebago Lake solidifies there are usually a couple of people out on the lake on any given weekend. Long lake at Naples also gets some action. It
is frozen now but a bit on the wet side . If freezing temps occur soon it will be good. I also kitebuggy at Pine Point inScarborough. Last week I
could both ski and buggy at Pine Point as above the tide line was a 100' band of snow that was as smooth as it gets around here. With a 10kt
wind off the ocean I had a blast with my 3.6 beamer. For the buggy I used the 5meter. We had a great time racing the buggy vs. the skiis side by side.
The weather should cool off this weekend which will make the lakes more attractive as they are covered with a layer of water and slush right now.

I skied on Sebago Lake on Jordan Bay at Raymond today with a 5m Beamer
There is a 2-6 inch covering of crunchy fast snow. I'll be there tomorrow if
you are interested.
