Where would be best place to buggy in LA area? Any good beach in there?

Not really too many good places that I've found. El Mirage Dry Lake bed is definitely the best place in my opinion, but it's about 90 miles from my house in Encino (San Fernando Valley).

I heard there's a good place in Lancaster off L street (big park I think)...but haven't been there yet...Always windy there though!

I've tried Oxnard Shores and Port Hueneme in Oxnard. The tide has too be really low at Shores because the shoreline comes up at an angle which doesn't allow much room to ride and the sand never seems to get hard enough. Does seem to blow onshore quite a bit. Port Hueneme would be good but the wind is almost always sideshore. Maybe when we get those Santa Ana's and those offshore conditions...

I've also heard Pismo can be good for buggying but that's I believe a 2.5 to 3 hr drive north.

Haven't tried Santa Monica, Venice or South Bay so can't comment on them but that might be an option to research also...but crowds might be a factor and there might be beach restrictions.

Seal beach is useable with a buggy... My wheels used to get stuck on the landboard though!

The windy season is unfortunately just about over in LA, but you might get lucky... or just pull out your 8.5

Oxnard has a few possibilities yeah... been there a few times...
I've landboarded at santa monica and venice beach but it's once in a blue moon that:

1. The tides are right
2. The wind is right
3. There are no people around (the life guards have very strict kiting regulations in these area and require that there are no people within a 100 ft. proximity of you!)

It can be really good fun though landboarding here cos the tide is never THAT low so you get to plow into the water everynow and then when a wave crashes in lots of fun, and has ruined my bearings many, many times!!!
