Anyone live there year round? What's the scoop on the area? Do you ride 12 months of the year? Are there times when it's rained out, beach to busy and crowded, times of no wind?

When is the windy riding season and how often?

Sunset Beach?
Epic, World class buggy beach.
Depending on the season 12-15 miles of open beach from Gearhart to Fort Stevens State Park.
Yes some of the best buggiers live there and ride year around although
it's best in Spring, Summer and Fall when it's a bit warmer and drier.
Always best in a west wind with the chance to do a park and ride for miles up the beach.
If there is no wind, at least you are at the beach!!

It can get too crowded for a few hours on holiday weekends when there are good low clamming tides.

How come on seaside wind sailing is specifically forbidden? Is Manzanita any good for buggy or land sailing?

Seaside is a great beach but too many tourists so we stay out of their way. Manzanita is great for kite surfing but the beach is narrow and kind of steep.
Sunset is truly an EPIC place to be

First post so I better introduce myself.
My name's Will, same as my handle, makes it easy and I'm all for that.
Born-n-raised in Tacoma WA @ 63 years of age. Been retired for 4.5 yrs and loving it.

My family has always had a lot or 2 at Ocean Shores WA, so I'm down there 2 to 5 times a year either clam digging or just vacationing.
About 3 years ago, I started playing with 2 line delta stunt kites, and a year later moved to the 2 line foil stunt kites.

Early last year I bought the biggest foil stunt kite Ocean Shores kite shop had in stock, the Prism Synapse 200.
It was pretty windy and while giving it a test run I thought to myself, if only I had wheels or something to roll on.
Sure enough and as always, I'm late to the party. You guys have been doing it all along, and for quite some time. Sometimes I feel I've been living under a rock.

So I built a kite kart. It's too small to be called a buggy. See pic.
And just in case the 200 wasn't up to it, I bought joedy's Prism Tensor 5.0 and went back down to OS.

Mistakes were made but oh what a hoot, that 5.0 was quite a jump up from the 200.
After being drug around on the sand a bit, I jumped on the kart.
2 quick lessons, stay out of the soft sand while turning and keep kite from dropping into power window, all at the same time. I've got a lot to learn.

Had about 3-4 very quick and short 20' rides which turned into again being dragged across the sand, LMAO while trying to regain control and finally releasing and letting the brakes take it down.
I really should of had somebody filming, had to of been a hoot to watch as I know it was for me. Weather turned crappy and that was it for last summer.

Over the winter I redid the rear of the kart into dually wheels in hopes of it floating better and built a new PeterLynn style buggy, also with duallys. Almost ready for paint. See pic.
Also acquired 2 new kites, a Symphony Pro 2.5 w/brake and a Beamer 3.0. Cmon summer.

So, after reading about some of you buggying at Sunset which ain't much father than OS, I'm thinking about maybe coming down and hooking up and maybe get some pointers on how to keep me out of the sand ?
