Now I realize that I had veen seeing the wreck all week. I couldn't figure out what I was looking at until seeing the pictures in the paper yesterday. What a mess!

Sorry to miss you guys again Mark! I hope next year is a possibility for you and Fiona to visit your friends in the south!

Scott it was my pleasure! I loved her reaction when I was able to throw a couple down turns and whip us around headed down wind.

The north tip of the island was going to be my way of kiting Friday and the fire was sending noxious plasticy smelling smoke right of the end of the island. I took a pic of it from driftwood beach but not easy to post here.

Tuesday was my day this year. Got in 50 miles with some proximity riding with Angus while both of us flew our 15m Phantoms. It was nice to have a smooth beach again!

I tried to run to the north end but they've worked on it for beach erosion protection right after the high wall of rip rap. They've put medium sized stones where our path between the trees used to be and the trees on the ocean side are gone. I didn't get another low tide to recon if the path is really blocked promptly at low tide.

It was great to see some old and some new friends and get to ride there with them! Maybe it will be a grand reunion next year.

We drove home Saturday. No problems finding gas.

How do you get to the north beach? Looked like you would have to take a path to get there.

BTW - the beach was nicer than any time I remember (and I've been coming since 2014). Thursday it was hard packed up to all but the last 10 feet. Looking forward to JIBE 2022 already. Any ideas for the dates?

As a brother kiter once said about his screw up at Ivanpah... life got in the way. Well, It happened to me this year and I apologize to all.

I own and operate 2 business's and employ 7 people until lately. CoVid, stimulus checks and drugs cut my staff to 3. Me, my wife and 1 artist.

Well, my screen printer and his wife who also worked for me, 3 kids, a nanny, a big pay check and 6 stimulus checks made them just stop coming to work! Why work when you got over 10k in your pocket? They then pumped 5k worth of crack in their veins, swerved a car, got busted, put in jail for at least 6 months, kids to Child Services and the nanny was all of a sudden homeless. What a mess!

With several thousand dollars in orders in house my wife and I have been busting our ass's to 11pm every night trying to get the work out the door and keep up on the bills. To make a long story shorter, as much as I wanted and needed to come to JIBE this year it was impossible.

For the last 10 years JIBE has been the highlight of my year and there's going to be hole in my heart till next year when I can again have fellowship and fun with everybody on the white sands of Jekyll Island.

The 2021 JIBE shirt will be posted here on PKW in a couple of days. I'll have a good deal for those that want to order, and i'll pay the postage. Hope you all had a good time. Please accept my most sincere apology for missing seeing and being with everybody on the beach.

Check back soon for a look at the official 2021 JIBE t-shirt and ordering instructions if you want any.

Good winds for all, Davis AKA D Cheeks

At low tide and with a mostly onshore wind, you just keep heading north. If the old path actually is still there, you just wind your way past the dead fallen and standing trees till it breaks out to the open beach.

Awesome ride Mark. Either I was never at driftwood beach at proper low tide this year or the sand below the rocks is gone now.
