Splice mini 5th line

Hi all, mini 5th splicing question. I want to make some new lines for my speed 3, which has the mini 5th line spliced into one of the front lines. Anyone know what kind of splice works there? My guess would be zacher with no loop?

Are there other methods of attachment?

What do folks do for q-powerline that can't be spliced? Worth it to go with Q pro over liros sk99 (Q pro is twice the cost I think).

Thanks!

How about the eye splice brummel .
I had replace 2 pulley bridle for 2 kite by eye splice brummel recently . one is Speed 2 19m and Liquid force elite 15m . so far no issue .
I find out most bridle and main line attachment is applying eye splice brummel and securing it with stitching on this 2 kite .
while on my 15m there is no stitching at the pulley bridle .

Thank you, not asking about bridles (unless I'm misunderstanding you) - the splice I'm talking about is halfway up one of the flying lines where the mini 5th terminates - there is a loop spliced in there. I'm assuming that loop is a short piece of line with a zacher or Brummell loop and then buried into the flying line. Just wondering what the best splice for that is that will not pull out of the flying line.

And for q-powerline, since it can't be spliced, is the technique here to just add a figure 8 to the flying line, then larks head the 5th line above it?

*edit - pic should help...

As a long time Q -line user I would agree with just knotting it in as long as you acknowledge/ remember that every knot weakens the line by a significant percentage. In the last few years I have started using arborist [tree trimmer] throwing line -can be gotten as small as 2 -3 mm diameter with sufficiently heavy load limits [500 -1000 #] and braided so it can be spliced and cost of about 75 -80% of dedicated kite lines.

would definitely go with Brummel splice, would be concerned with getting the proper "inside out" section implemented in the bury for a good strong hold [I have had "straight bury" [without the inverted section] hold under buggying loading for years in some cases prior to teaching myself the proper and full Brummel.

Thanks Cerebite - that was my concern with the Q line - I'm not extremely comfortable about a knot right in the middle of a front line. Although at 600 lb even if it weakens it to 50 percent it should still be more than sufficient. I haven't been able to dig up too much info about how folks implement the different safety systems. Seems like single front line is a bit of a pain to do as well.

As far as the SK99/loop like above, am I correct that the loop is it's own piece of line (let's say 20cm) then Brummell the loop (making it 10 cm), then bury the whole thing into the front line?

*oh - and I came across a few old posts - your aborist line is the pink stuff, yes? Pretty awesome!

Just tried a bury test with some scrap line. There is no way that loop is coming loose with a long enough bury. It's amazing to me how tightly rope holds when spliced properly. Just for kicks I'll set up one bar with Q and one with liros.

Pretty sure it's a bit of bridle line, spliced and stitched

I'd worry anything thicker would create hard points to weaken the line

Thanks Kami - I think you're right. I'll order a bit of the thinner line as well and make sure I have good tapers.
