Should be a great trip! I can't join but hope to some day. I'm heading to OR as you know in SEPT so I'm starting to spread northward!

Have a wonderful time and kindly share some photos so we can feel the stoke.:thumbup:

Now that I'm assured that Steve won't crash the party, I'd love to join you. What site do you use for a wind forecast for Alvord? Camping SW end?

Sorry, Steve! Just jokin'.

Mood: Itchin' for the beach

We'll be there for the fun!
Plan to get onto the playa at Frog Spring, 8 miles from end of paved road if you come in from the SW.
On the playa, head SW to a good camp spot.

Always on the steep part of the learning curve.

Misc. other kites, never getting out of their bags.
Riding a Libre Fullrace with an AQR on the beach
Riding a Blokart inland when gust factor > 4
And a couple Manta Singles for friends to ride.

Any opinions on how safe it is to drink from Frog Spring?

This will be my first visit to Alvord. I can't say. I will be bringing my RV with 80 gallons of fresh drinking water I'm happy to share. Wind-dog might know more that I.

I'm bringing 40 gallons of water and 40 gallons of beer.
Wouldn't try to drink from the springs.

Many thanks to John and Sarah for their hospitality. Thanks to John and Rick for rescuing me from the wicked Alvord mud.

Thanks especially to Tami and Cyd for tolerating this relative neophyte and allowing me to play with their wind toys.

A totally awesome experience (even with the near disaster with my car). Can't wait to go back someday.

Hopefully we'll all meet again down the road.

Absolutely brother. Was a pleasure to share the playa with you! Rescues are all part of the Adventure! Thank you Dick, CID, and Tami, wouldn't have been the same without you! Can't wait to see you all at SOBB someday.

Thanks again to Lady Blitz and Mr. Hound for a fine dinner.

Rick, I thought you made up the legend of the smooth north wind, but it came up long enough for all 3 of us to make it to the east shore and back.
