Another great event in the books

As I take the boat home, I leave WBB and my kite family behind, I have time to sit and realize how much WBB means to me. I think about all the fun times I had sitting around, talking with friends, flying kites, watching everyone enjoy themselves, no matter what the conditions are. It makes me realize even more my passion for this sport and the people involved in it. Every time we get together I learn more and more about each of you as well as of myself. What I take away more than anything is how we all come from different walks of life, from different parts of the continent, and even speak different languages, but we all share the same passion for playing in the wind. It humbles me just how simple it really is.

Till the next time my friends, great winds, tight lines, and continued health to all of you!

A special thanks to all who donated-with respect to my loss- to the American Heart Association. Danny just relayed this fund collection to me on the phone. I'm grateful and honored by this thoughtfulness .

Best to those..... and all attendees of WBB.

Okay...now how many days left till Spring WBB...?

Spending the night in Harrisburg, grrrr
Thinking about the week at WBB and the amount of spirits that were flowing, NOT talking about the booze although that was..........the atmosphere was more than one could just be part of. People who were glad to see everyone and the laughter and "can I help with that?" was everywhere. The dinner last night was over the top. The down shore wind was just as good as the onshore and offshore winds.:P
I didn't say goodby to some before we left and the others were willing to hug goodbye.
What can you say that would compliment Rich and his event with all the trimmings? I think I know, in the style of the terminator, "I'LL BE BACK".

The energy and effort you put in doesn't go unrecognized. It's something we all appreciate and very much look forward to each spring and fall.

MANY thanks to Rich, Mike from Boston and Konrad who welcomed me and set me up with buggies to ride. Unfortunately the conditions were not as nice. It was enough however to realize that buggying can be wonderful (last Tue was my first time). Looking forward for more, but who knows when and where, given the lack of any suitable spots in my area.

WOW! I am at a loss of words except the simple 3 letter word WOW!

Oh wait.. .. lol Well I might have a few more words so I am not at a total loss. But would love to thank everyone for making this WWBB a time I will not forget! I will say I have been to a few gatherings but no disrespect intended as geographic limitations are hard binding on ALL the event and the outcome, but this one was a SERIOUS BLAST ! !

Top notch orchestration Rich and hope to get to the next one there at WW!

@Brian my condolences brother ... be well and so sorry for the loss ...

A special thanks to Rich and all the crew that made WBB 2016 a HUGE SUCCESS!

Some might call it a social event with a kite buggy problem and others might call
it a kite buggy event event with a social problem.
Either way you want to call it, it was the best event of it's kind I've been too.

The fellowship, and camaraderie of a band of brothers and gals, with a common love and passion for the sport
was so special. It felt like a great big family. It was special to me just like the first time I rode in
my buggy finally powered up and rolling.:D Hooked!

Even though it was a big trip from S.C. to Wildwood and back, it was worth each and every mile traveled.
I will be back!

Cheeks, I'm glad you, Mike, Bruce, Blake, and every other new person that came really got the feel for what it is we have going on at WBB. It is very special. I take pride in making sure that it runs as smooth as possible, and the rest, well just handles itself. We ARE one big family, no doubt, and we have open arms for any others that may want to come check out the event for them selves! Spread the word, and get that motor home all gassed up for the next bash!

Thanks again for the shirts, they were a hit with out a doubt!

Well, its official.
The trip is over, with a bit of depression setting in with the rain, leaves and branches everywhere from the wind and rain storms, daytime high of 50 degrees, along with the window of the Jeep that was left partly rolled down, and rain predicted for the next 5 months.
I cant complain too much with the highlights of the trip still in my mind and recorded for all of time in picture or video form.
A day at Alvord, did you know you can drive 70mph for close to 3 minutes from one side to the other? I hit a cow guard a little hard just before the lake bed and developed a bit of bounce in the front end.
Stopped in Las Vegas to do the Grandpa/Grandson thing for a couple days. We got the tires balanced at the tire shop and ate ice cream while waiting in 90 degree heat.
Drove Rt 66 from Arizona to Oklahoma. Would have been a blast doing this trip 60 some years ago, the good ol days. Stopped in Albuquerque to align the front end, no more shimmy at 80mph, er I mean 75. Found an all you can eat KFC, Im good for a few months now.
Memphis and the other spots in Tennessee with a stop at Hobby Lobby.
North to Bristle Speed way and on to West Virginia, Virginia to Hershey PA. On to upper NY and over to Vermont, New Hampshire (the changing of the colors are beyond anything I have ever seen) and then making a right turn in Maine and down the coast.
WARNING....DO NOT GO THROUGH NEW YORK CITY ON A MONDAY MORNING AT 8AM.
Ended the Eastbound voyage at Wildwood Buggy Blast. If you have a snowballs chance in heck to make the blast once in your life-DO IT!!!!!
The trip home hit a snag as soon as we left NJ. Blew the front 3rd member in the truck and tried to deal with the lack of people with an ounce of dodge knowledge. Blew the rear 3rd member as we got to Chambersburg PA. Really? Rebuilt the rear end and removed the front axles and driveline in the front end due to a cracked housing. 3 days in a motel and its nonstop through sun, rain, hail, high winds, thunder, snow and 28 degree in Wyoming and Montana to Washington State.

Would I do it again? In a heart beat. To fight off the depression of being home I have begun the planning of next years trip. More sun, more time and less driving.

To the guys who said they came to WBB because of what I said, Thank you. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. To the ones that helped put on the dinner and eat the food, To the guys with the funny way of speaking and the blackberry moonshine, :wee: To the rest of you all, I'd give you a hug but its a bit too late, how about next year?

Wow, what a fantastic voyage you and Renee had! Yeah it had its little bumps in the road, but sounds like the entire trip was quite fantastic, well with the exception of driving through NY at 8am. Very envious right now, and hope I can do the same one day!

Continue making the trip, you and anyone else that wants to come are always welcome to join us! It's only going to get better from here!

Well, what a week! For me, this 'Bash will be remembered more for it's time with friends, both old and new, than it will be for miles in the buggy. (But my new Pansh A15 made it close.)

Ines has managed, once again, to capture many of the smiles that we shared, and the sails we were under (even the Blokarts). Thanks Ines!
