Ivanpah Easter Weekend 2016
Got a weekend off and am heading to Ivanpah this weekend. Anyone that has been there in previous years when the NALSA event is happening have any
tips on where to set up and buggy so as not to get in the way of their event? Or is it best to use Roach instead? I will be in a white Chevy pickup
if you want to say HI.

PS: Steady winds in the teens predicted for Saturday

Last year I was there during the NALSA event. Their course does take up an amazing amount of the playa. We were camped on the edge of their area and
it was difficult to get around their course to access the rest of the lake. One way was around the evaporation pond but that was very rough surface.
It would be a lot better to camp by the new bathrooms (or area 1 but the Blokart folks will be setting up there). The good news is outside their race
hours they don't have a lot of activity out on the playa. This year I opted out of the frustration. They are a very nice group.

Thanks for the info utahtami. Do you know if it is still possible to use Roach lake as an alternate?

I don't know anything about Roach. But the more I think about NALSA week last year I realize that if I had camped by the bathrooms or closer to Primm
there wouldn't have been too much of an issue. As I said, apart from their official racing even though they are a very large group there isn't much
sailing.

I think they will be closing up and moving out during the weekend. Seems like Friday is the last official day of their event. People will be arriving
for IBX but that won't cause any problems for you at all. Just some friends to ride with. IBX officially starts Tuesday.

Thanks Bob, would be nice to meet up with IBX attendees. For utahtami, Roach is just on the North side of the hotels and easy to get to as well.
OHVs are allowed so it is similar to El Mirage in that sense.
It was used once for an SBBB instead of Ivanpah because it was wet .

Gettin' excited for the playa! I'll be driving down from the SLC area Monday morning and hope to get an itty bitty kite or two up in the air Monday
afternoon. Winds Monday look to be forecasting for 25-35 mph. Brisk! I'll be there through Wednesday. I'm pussing out and staying in the hotel but
will be in a green Ford Edge on the playa. Looking forward to meeting folks!

With Ivan right there and packing gear for transport such a hassle, I haven't buggied it or the other little lakes around.

Been here at Ivanpah for NALSA all week. Light winds in forecast for Friday so word has it there will be an awards ceremony at 9:00am Friday and
that's a wrap. All done with official sailing. Some like myself will stay and play another day or two. So the lake should be wide open. Is IBX using
the tent from NALSA again?

Yes. IBX and NALSA partner in the tents and porta potties.

Good to see a few folks out this afternoon.
My wife and I were able to get in a couple of runs before sundown.
Tomorrow looks to be a windy day.

Wife and I had a great time at Ivanpah this weekend.
It was nice to meet some of you that will be staying for IBX.
I finally had the chance to try a simple tandem attachment I'd been wanting to do and it worked out great.
Here is a quick video from Saturday (Turn down the speakers if you don't want the music.)
Cheers!

Very nice indeed! It appears that Saturday was a fine day on the playa. I'm sitting out today's tempest but am driving down tomorrow from the SLC
area. Hope to be there by midday!
