Can someone explain this loaded 5th line concept to me? Looking at a North Rebels and keep seeing references to the loaded 5th system, with absolutely
no explanation as to what it is or does. I'm totally familiar with the standard 5th lines bar slides up the extra line setup, but what is all this
loaded business?
the loaded Center line is a limiter of distance from CL to leading edge, bar fully in, trim fully out the line would its longest and actually carry
some tension from canopy....and when bar/loop is released and you go to safety, the tension load LE from center goes fully onto line kite falls to
surface. gather up and pull in bar and relaunch.
as you depower the kite on the trim the load is less and less, bungee cord may pull in slack can't remember , but all works the same when depower .
truly an "instant"safety . had more to do with unique design and canopy deformation control, its was seemingly an intermediate design into hybrids
and c-kites .

not a big deal all same really
Spot on analysis...............truly instant depower............plenty of vids out there to give phrees's analysis a visual. Center line (depower)
replacement fairly easy as well.
My son flew Norths for a couple yrs and really enjoyed them.........they pack a punch. To me fly a couple sizes bigger than rated...........
