OK I Did It!

Well its done! I checkened out on the 17m Contra so I am the new proud owner of a 14m & 10m Cabrinaha Switch Blade. I got the really cool overdrive X1 adjustable bar and a Stylus 155 board.

I was actually shocked how much I saved by calling around and getting quotes, I saved well over a grand compaired to MSRP.

I can't wait to hit the water! Now I just need to wait 2 months or more for the ice to turn back to a liquid state.

I might get the 10m kite before the weekend is up, hopefully I can try it static on the back bay on the ice. GOPRO time!

Nice!

That board is huge, together with the 14m it should get you going in pretty light winds! I think I'll DIY myself some kind of lightwind board this summer, although even my 140x42 seems to do fine in light winds.
You'll probably need another, smaller board for normal conditions, though. I actually find learning with my small board much easier, the big one felt more like a sled under my feet when the wind picked up...:D

Yes I will definitely get a smaller board once I get the hang of it. I am guessing another twin tip maybe a 136?

Suggestions on a second board?

big board you got there. you will want something smaller 132x40 would be a great go to board, flat bottom low rocker. think you will be surprised how low you could on 132x40 , @#120, definitely think the 10 is gonna be your best buddy!

I'm 190 lbs, and will experience fairly light winds anything fro 10 to 20 mph. I probably see a little chop but no really big waves, 2 foot rollers at best.

They must be using dry suits, that sounds cold. The ice is starting to melt, the lake is 8 feet low this year I have lot of options for launch sites and a bay with only 3 feet of water in it to learn in. I am stoked! Kites arrive on Friday.

Yep, mostly mud and muck on the bottom a few sandy beaches here and there but I can go to Lake Superior when I get comfortable on the board.

There are a few rockey points too

Yes, dry suits for sure! They get on the water even before the ice is completely gone. One video out this year of them going from the ice onto the water and then back to the ice. Those guys down there have some really good skills. They invite me to go to OBX every year for training, no equipment necessary is what they tell me. What am I supposed to use when I get back to WI? All I have is foils, can't afford LEI's and gear to get on the water right now. I think the wife would kill me if I bought more kites and boards:lol:

My husband would like to kill me but he bought a BMW motorcycle last year so he cant say a thing, he spent a lot more money than me!

I wish I could get him interested in kitting, he would rather ride something with a motor, at least that will come in handy when I need him to pick me up on the other end of the lake.
