Video editing software is like cars, one car won't suit everyone's tastes. It all depends on what you want to do with it and how advanced you want to
get with effects. I've personally used window's movie maker and Cyberlink PowerDirector 10. Although movie maker did the job, like you, I got bored
with it and wanted something a little more advanced. I'm perfectly happy with powerdirector at the moment. Wasn't that hard to figure out being a
computer challenged person like myself. I did have some frame freezing glitches at first, but that went away with the latest update from cyberlink.
I've been more than happy with it since then. I've heard good and bad things about every software program out there so I was hesitant to put my money
on any of them. My decision was a no brainer since my buddy gave me a copy of his to use, so I really couldn't go wrong. I'm sure others will chime
in since there are so many that make great videos. Take care.

I use Adobe Premiere all the time but it can come up a little expensive for Creative Suite. You could find basic movie maker for around 100 or less if
you dont want to pay a lot for premiere. Kite: 3m HQ Beamer IV

Sony Vegas for me... lots of tuts on the YouTubes and it'll melt your brain.
I think what you're looking for is a non-linear video editor. Do a google, there's a free one or two around...

I use Sony Vegas too. Its really good for the price. The user interface is like a much more more high end product and you can do plenty with multiple
sound channels and graphics.
Some vids done with Vegas on my Vimeo page (all except the kite one which is not very good anyway!) The climbing/biking one called "one fine day"
probably has most use of the software.

Sony Vegas is the absolute best for the money. It has served me well. The transitions and overlays are awesome. If you've received this message I am no longer a member and I will not be reading any U2U's or posts.

+ rep points as others have stated for Sony Vegas.
Better have a wonker powerful PC to have it run on.......if you want to render a finished 10-15 minute High def file size of 2-3 gig at 1080P in under
an hour.

I can do one in 20-30 minutes with 16 gig of ram here, dual quad core liquid cooled AlienWare PC with a monster graphics card, HDMI out ot a 56"
monitor is my editing viewer.

You need Computer Horsepower, serious horsepower.........but Sony Vegas Movie Makeer, ~$99.

I'm a Mac user, and all Macs come standard with iMovie. It has some minor bugs and is slightly limited, but its REALLY easy to use. I'm really OCD
with my editing and I feel like it meets all my needs without problem. I'm going to take a nap now |

I've been using Corel Video Studio for a few years now and find it excellent. You can download it free for a limited amount of time to see how you
like it. |

I got an old Core2Duo and only 4Gb of memory—Vegas runs fine doing HD editing. Rendering can be done over-night
There's a trick to work with low-def versions of films, then replace them HD when you actually render too :D

soliver, if you are OCD then Vegas is not going to help you there. :eekdrull:

I have a slight bit of OCD myself, but I tend to under cook everything and do it as fast as I can to get away from the tweaking.

cheers

I'm going to have to put in a vote for Final Cut Pro X. I have used many of the other software, Premier, Vegas, etc... and FCP X hands down is the
best I have seen. If you have never really done much editing then this program is very intuitive and inexpensive. If you have then just forget
everything about video editing and start over. Took more time to decide what I wanted to do than learn the program for the first time. Great price at
$300, you will need a Mac though. Minimum OSX 10.6.8 Buggy Bison |
