Help making pigtails..
Hey, I wanna make some pigtails for use with my FBs and Turbo bar.
Im wondering if this is suitable:
Its an old set of kite lines I got as part of a job lot I bought recently. Im assuming because of their size They were power lines, and there is no
obvious fraying / wear. The Bars which also came with the job lot look like bit old 2 line bars (maui magic), so im assuming (also because of the
width of the lines) they are power lines.
Ive got the local kite shop to make me a couple out of 700lb lines, and it looks very simmilar to these. Im getting them next week, but im going out
on monday.
Also, if i were to chop them , and make pigtails, what knot should i be using that could take the strain, and not slip etc.
Thanks
Tim

What are you using the pigtails for? That line looks pretty thick so likely very strong but depending upon your application... it may or may not
work.
A figure of 8 knot is the proper knot to use if not sewing or splicing.
Depower Quiver: 14m Gin Eskimo, 10m Gin Eskimo III, 6m Gin Yeti, 4.5m Gin Yeti (custom bridle and mixer)
Fixed Bridle Quiver: MAC Bego 400, JOJO ET Instinct 2.5 & 5.5, Lil Devil 1.5, Sting 1.2

Thanks for the reply !
I need them for extensions for the power leads on my turbo bar.
It concerned me a bit, having all the power of a kite running through them, but i thought it was asking / trying it out.

If they are extenstions for the power leader then they are basically just extensions of the power line and in that case, they are likely suitable
based on the picture but pictures can be misleading so you'll have to make the call based on what it looks like up close.

I use some 1.5mm Spectra that I bought from a marine supplies. Just double it over and tie a fig 8 in it. I think I'm using about 5" long for both
my turbo bars. Weird that Ozone hasn't fixed this...

Great, cheers guys, I think ill give it a go. If it doesn't work ill either go back to handles temporarily, or just make some more!
Thanks again
