OOBE field, *rescheduled for Sat. 4/6*

Hey gang,

I've been emailing with Chris (pokitetrash) and we've decided to get together on Saturday the 23rd for some buggying at OOBE field in Aiken Sc. (Right outside Augusta Ga). So Kevin (knkmanthey) and I will be leaving the Atlanta area Saturday morning and getting to OOBE field probably mid to late morning.

Chris will be there to entertain us all and he'll have the kitefort for a place for us to go to the can. So if you're in the area come and join us!

Chris, can you post the address of that nearby place so people can find it on google maps?

Looking forward to it.

RESCHEDULED FOR APRIL 6

In case you havent flown at OOBE Field, it comes by it's name naturally. Wind ranges from almost zip to scream- like-a-girl (in about 1 second sometimes) so bring low wind machines & gust munchers JUST IN CASE.

There's a bar almost across the street from the field called "Iron Horse Saloon" and you can Nav to this address: 2510 Storm Branch Rd Beech Island, SC 29842 and the field entrance is about 100 yards up the street on the left, you'll see the entrance to the &%&*@#* driving range that is now on the property cutting about a third of the field. Still have alot of room though. Also, we will have to watch out for horse riders as usual, and if we see 'em we all ground the kites until they leave.

Kevin & I are going to try to leave between 8 & 9 am so I imagine we'll be there sometime between 11 & 12.

I seem to remember that the wind isn't usually decent until around then any way, so...

See you there!

Went by the field today and I had one of the best sessions I've ever had out there! 12-14 mostly steady . Blew the spider webs off the buggy! Looking forward to next weekend. 20 mph tomorrow but got stuff to do. Might get to sneak out.

AWESOME CHRIS... I'm jealous...

I have been tied up finishing up a term at school and the last leg of a major reno on the house,... I finally get to go out for a short session tomorrow but am REALLY looking forward to OOBE next week end.

I sent a U2U to both Davis and Don to see if they were interested, but got no reply.

Didn't get hit by any golf balls did you?

Nope didn't get hit by any golf balls. In fact there wasn't a sole on the range so I rolled all over that spot just because! Oh Yea, I'm a bad ass! That's how I roll.

Same conditions here in GA... Had a smokin session today at my favorite park in some awesome wind and about 65-70 degree temps... Broke my speed record and my new PB is now officially 17.1 mph. Whoot!

The official outside temperature must be below 40 degrees for it to qualify as a chili run...according to the OOBE Field Dirt Divers hand book... this can be The Incoming Golf Ball Dodge...

I agree,... If it still looks pitiful by mid day tomorrow (Friday) lets reschedule for 2 weeks out,... I'm pretty sure Kevin won't be available next weekend and I don't want to leave him out just cuz he's occupied.

I'll email you and let you know.

I'm good just about as often as I can be,... It takes a lot of work, but hey it sets a good example for the kids.

I really only get to fly kites on Saturdays though

Only get to fly 2nd and 4th weekends if ever think works out. For 5-6 mph I would think finding somewhere local would be the only option.
