I'm useing a 55cm airush bar with 25m lines. It seems to work well but I have never used a PL bar.

As mentioned by others, you don't need to limit yourself to a Peter Lynn bar if you want to play around with other things that appeal to you. There are a few basic concerns when using a different bar. These are not in order of priority just areas of the set up to consider.
- line length: make sure once you have taken another bar and done some mods it works with equal line lengths. On some bar mods I've had to replace outside bar leaders with longer leaders to compensate for the mods
- above bar or below bar adjustments: in some cases it's personal taste but there are also different ways adjustments are done that some are awkward or may not give the same range of adjustment. If the system is to your liking look to see if something could be lengthened or shortened if needed (modifying a strap or line length)
- length of throw: this can vary in different bars and kites so you might want to modify it to have a throw that you like and would work with your kite
- bar length and feel of it: bar length goes with the kite but there is flexibility there. As far as comfort some are just a better feel for doing a lot of riding and sliding your hands around.
- safety system: this is an important one when using a different bar. +Check that it would work to flag your kite or can it be modified to give you what you need.

It was around the time of the Scorpions or just before the Synergy came out that we were talking with Peter Lynn junior when he came to NABX and discussing power range and throw etc that we came back and immediately explored long throw bars and changed all bars over to long throw and below the bar trim and our own flagging line with a simple leash and ring system. I always found that below the bar trim easy to reach when kite skiing and buggying. I also have all of the Navigator bars, Magnet bars etc and the one thing that crops up for many people, and most notably shorter people, is reaching up to grab the adjustment that can be high and out of reach. I also find that depending on design that adjustment line can often flip around and get a little tangled when riding aggressive and in high winds. It's at the moment you need to do something quick and you need to reach up and untangle a twist first. Some strap systems can be cleaner with less spin

As far as my bars, I have my modded long throw bars that started at 04 bars and some other base bars and then added other chicken loops and created anything else needed. Then all the new bars - the only bar i never kept for myself was the 07 bar that I didn't care for. The original Nav bar modded to get rid of the high line split and current Nav TS bars. I've even used various Ocean Rodeo bars (which is what our original long throw mods were modeled after) and then modifying the safety to work with an arc.

I have a frankenbar that came with the Guerilla I. It looks like a Cabrinha 55cm bar with (I think) the Naish chicken loop, and an "extension" line that hooks in to the metal ring, so your leash doesn't pull on the front lines.

The only thing I really need to replace is the depower trim setup. The current system allows you to pull a strap to power up, but to depower, you actually have to fiddle with the buckle and hope it pulls itself through before you get maimed.

Note: I also used my Best bar with the Guerilla because I forgot my frankenbar. It worked just fine. That bar is all Best, and is the stock bar with a 2007 Best Waroo. Took a little tweaking, but it really worked famously. Oh, and that bar is a 45cm.

2013 navigator ts bar. this bar will work with all arcs and you can adjust the length of the bar by putting the lines on the inside or outside of the bar ends. also it has the centrix chicken loop. the safety runs through the centre of the bar and loop so less twists. the chicken loop also spins.

Navigator bars but personalized to my needs. As long as the safety systems are compatible you are good to go, maybe a little tweaking is needed but they'll work. As Mark said the more throw the more you can get out of the kite as long as you can reach it.

The Navigator has a long throw compared to previous PL bars.

I think my tastes are leaning toward race type bars these days.
