I don't know what you mean by "cut it to length and tie it on". You should not simply cut away the bad section of the damaged line and tie new line
in to it as the knot will weaken the line by up to 50%. You should replace the whole line and don't forget to sleeve booth of the ends so the knot
doesn't chew through the line. I would use 150# spectra / dyneema for break lines. If you can't figure out what # the current lines are or buy a
replacement spool with the same # rating you should replace both lines. You can buy a spool and replace them easily enough. Don't forget to
prestretch the line before sizing as the lines will stretch under load and over time.
