i just had a thought, is there a way to block users? by this i mean so i dont have to see any posts by the user name. theres a facility on kitecrowd
that allows you to block any user that you dont like ect. and you no longer see any posts by them |

That will work for individuals (although you'll be blocking a heck of a lot of spam accounts), but it won't do anything to stop the flood of spam on
the forum.
New users who log in to see a lot of spam out of control might not want to bother sticking around.

| Not just new..

...but *regular users who see alot of spam aren't going to want to stick around either..!...but good point.
*Example: '?????' titled post from -Bigkid http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=24575
Where is our moderator? Is the trouble here that this is the longest unchecked period from the moderator, more so- if not as much- than all the spam
:puzzled:

Once this Spate of repeat spammers are removed things might go back to normal.

Only if this continues..... do we need either a new system or regular moderator(s) moderating. |

Guys, repeated posts talking about spam is.....guess what.... SPAM.
no need to have 5 threads on the topic

I think on XK, the first five posts of a new user have to be approved by a moderator before they're posted on the board. The end result is that I've
never seen spam posts on the forum. I have heard that it's pretty time consuming to deal with though... |

| time consuming

In general, for any blog site....being a moderator is a thankless position (almost) where you volunteer your time. It should be -obviously-for
someone who is on there consistently and is VERY fond of that site.
Again...this is bad right now because of a long absence of the moderator(as opposed to just non-reaction)...I assume?.....

It may be at the same time we have been bombarded much more than average... but I'm doubtful....because if there wasn't this absence(of
action/removal)..it would not be this bad- and also it just seems the same offender(s) repeating their spamming-unchecked/unremoved.

The more it builds up, the more work to be done and time involved by moderator to clean up, too...perhaps..?

Anyone concur? ...anyone...Bueller? |
