If you had your choice.......
I've got a rare opportunity before me. The sail club I belong to for clubhouse access during winter snowkite season is selling off surplus and
abandoned boats. Likely going ridiculously cheap, I could potentially make a foray into kiteboat territory.
Anyone know what kind of boat I should be looking for? There's dinghys like lasers, invitations etc, a custom cat and quite a few seasprays. What
might apply as a good kiteboat project and what should I make sure is there for sure (some boats quite run down after sitting for over a decade).

macboy if I had to choose one i would choose CLSC052, it's got a tramp and hulls. All you really need to get started with a kiteboat!

Yes - the SeaSprays. I guess what I meant is would a guy be better off if there was a dusty Hobie 16 or something or is a cat a cat - especially when
it comes to bastardizing it for kiting?

Just sailed (haha) through this entire thread - looks like the main requirement is that it....floats 
Hell, why not - the membership includes free boat storage. I'll see if I can snag one. The question is do I pony up dough or wait until after the sale
and get it free - just before it goes into the big dumpster.....there are at least two SeaSprays that would have to have a load of dough dropped on
masts/sails if you ever wanted to sail them. With a closet full of kites I don't think I'd need to worry about the latter.

mac, are you going to have a fellow (more experienced) sailor/club member with you as you look over some of your top choices? or have you 'googled'
what key areas to check/look for with regards to rot(structural damage) and so forth?
