I use mine on the shoulder seasons on frozen lakes.
Good impact protection and gawd forbid floatation.
It is a bit warm on summer days on land.

Its basically one unit though you can remove the pad and spreader bar. But then you would still have the metal buckles exposed. The straps go around
the back and connect there.

The Dakine is , all in one.
My Oneil impact vest is designed for a seperate harness.
NEITHER of them are approved PDF although both work pretty good as a life preserver ! They are designed as impact vests .
