Herding Flies...not the name of a cool band...my new hidden talent.

Yup. :ninja:

We're having an addition built on the house and we have hanging plastic for doors on one end of the house and now hundreds of freaking flies...hold on...got another one...all over the freaking house. Its really gross! My PB with the swatter is over 100 today. Now its bedtime and ...hold on ...101... and of course they're all in my room now buzzing around me and my reading light. So being the ever deep thinker I am, am now systematically turning off all the lights in the house but the ones I want them to go to. One after another room, they are headed for the final LZ, the garage... works like a charm. Mostly.. 102...

Actually that would be a cool name for a band, lol. Some really creative thinking on your part rounding up the flies like that. Reminded me of the time we had bats in the attic. We put bright lights up there during the day and it made for some rather quick vacancies. For some amusement you could always get some of those battery operated tennis rackets that zap em' when they touch the wires. It was always a novelty when we went camping to fry flies with those.

I was just daydreaming about how Chris could 'stun' a dozen or so flies with a CO2 fire extinguisher, then glue them to a dollar store balsa wood glider, It would be like an insect version of the B-52!

We had a B52 or "tanker fly" as my kids called it in the house lastnight. Lights were out whatching a movie and it was buzzing the flat panel. Movie ended and we shut down for bed and of course, RIGHT into our room. buzzzz, bzzz, could hear it hitting the wall flying around.

Finally herded it into our bathroom and got him to land, WHACK. The thing was the size of the fingernail on my pinky!!:dunno: Probably could have picked up and flown off with a grape if it wanted to!:Ange09::shocked2:

I once read how you'd get better performance from a staggered, four-engine fly plane:
glue a male behind a female on each wing! :spin:

Good thing I didn't know about this in Middle School!I could see it now: A bunch of my friends and I arrive at school during a special assembly day carrying a large book ('cause we're, uh, "studious!")The assembly gets seated, and on a signal, we all open our hallowed-out-pages books to release a half dozen Fly Planes in the gym!

Oh yeah...Pokite.. four words: UV zappers - fat, happy birds! (OK, that's five words) ;-)

Soliver: look for some of that toxic-free, mint bug repellant spray. Spray in all around the floor cracks, door and entryways. Won't harm you or pets, but the ants supposedly can't take the mint scent and will turn back.

I'm at work, or so I call it and with nothing to do, I'm reading every one of the posts and I thought this one was about Herding FILES and didn't seem that interesting. Sorry, not been with it lately. hahaha
OK, so can you put in a zipper on the plastic in the door?

We went to Harbor Frieght and got the electric fly swatter. Most bugs make a wild snapping noise when they hit it. Big ones explode! Moths catch on fire and then explode. We can spend evenings outside just swatting mascitoes (?) and laughing at the pretty lights and big snapping noises!!
