22m I think, if "22F" on the little tag on the front lines is anything to go by  I have extensions laying around I can use too...

Yet to get on the water - is still snowing here but had a play on the beach yesterday...

We had one in the area for demo, and I could have sworn it came with 22+5s. I looked on Epic's website and found this:

"We even put 5 meter extensions in the bag so you can use either 22 or 27 meter lines so you can experiment and find the perfect length."

Maybe the 5m extensions are in there? If not, send Dimitri a note ;)

Infinity V2 is Epic's lightwind-specific kite that just comes one size which they don't want to disclose (I dunno why). Looks like it's somewhere between a 15 and 16.

keep us in the loop Kami, heard some good things about it and I know you have some other light wind units that you are flying. I would like to hear your take on it.

The idea behind NOT disclosing the size is to get the size-weenies to try it out... you know, the guys who are like "dooood I don't fly anything bigger than a 12m yo."

Unfortunately, here it has the reverse effect - I tried to get a couple of the guys who were kitesurfing yesterday to try it and they were like "No way! looks too big - I'm not riding an 18m" my reputation for riding the biggest kites seems to backfire :D

The demo came from a guy in Okinawa who I suspect is an Epic dealer but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. So l'll just use my own extensions...

Brief low-down...
Great bag; nice and big, proper pockets for bar, beach bag included for kite...
Bar; for a full price bar (same as North, Cab etc) I think it's over-priced for what you get, especially the QR (from Blade) which is a death-trap.
Kite; construction is fine, I'd like to see a couple of seams taped though.

Technical point...
The struts have quite a dog-leg in them... I think this and the low AR with a lot of sail in the center add to the projected area and effectiveness of the kite.

Points of interest flying the kite (in 11 to 14 knots, gusts to 21 according to the weather site) is that it makes power through the turns nicely - it was possible to scud from the shore of the beach all the way to the edge of the sand non-stop; of course you slow down a bit as the kite turns but I was still moving. Have to try it again with my other kites.
Nice hang-time, it seems quite floaty when you jump.
Flies with more tension on the rear lines than the Xbows... I kept thinking "Wow it feels like an arc" :D

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

that might be from side by side comparisons to other 15m kites (which is reasonable, it basically is a 15m), but I am pretty sure that number is not coming directly from Epic.

Got out on the water with it this weekend... not the best wind to test it maybe - slightly cross-offshore, punchy and gusty and over-powered. I recorded 10 to 20 knots on the beach, good average of about 15 then it picked up after about a half hour and we had gusts to 30.

Top end is definitely around 20knots - it starts behaving very badly; jerking, surging and bucking like a bronco. Got really bad in the big gusts - I haven't felt so dangerously over-powered in a VERY long time... Cabrinha's IDS has proved its worth IMO. So has Triple Depower on the big Speed3 too :D

The QR is a horrible, horrible POS - couldn't release it with my left hand at all, when I went to land and the right hand was a struggle. Thankfully the kite landed nicely when I managed to pull it...

Flies with rear line tension and I just keep thinking that I've got an arc on the lines eh :) not a lot of pressure, but it's always there...

So... 10-15 knots yesterday, perfect for the Infinity I thought.

Got it out and inflated (god I hate those small valves!) then into the water. Barely got away from shore when it dropped in a lull... pulled the RH line to get it to the edge of the window - fine.

But instead of opening up and relaunching, it clammed and then tumbleweeded downwind to the center of the powerzone :o
Sitting there on the LE I went to grab the LH steering line to relaunch when it spun in a loop - WTF? did it again and I noticed there was a steering line wrapped around the tip

I released the safety (both hands!!!) but it looped again with just as much power  so I started hauling in the depower line to give the rear lines some extra slack...

That's when it looped yet again and as the LE hit the water, the canopy unzipped from TE to LE :( that dumped the power so I dragged it all back to the shore...

Yikes. Now I remember why I don't borrow other people's kites and why I hate those bridled delta kites :( Anyone know where I can get a new Infinity V2 for cost :shocked2:

Tell Dimitri what happened with it and he'll probably hook you up. It shouldn't have ripped like that.
