kite triathlon @ JIBE

since we cant run to the ship wreck next year Ive been thinking of a kite triathlon to coincide with the Turle Triathlon................3 kite disciplines i.e, a water body drag around a fixed point (going upwind/if your a water kiter already have to ride toeside, loop transition, a table top, s-pin or rotation required), followed by buggy and land board runs up and down wind around fixed points...............complete the 3 disciplines get the t shirt.................too much, thoughts, other ideas.

just trying to think of an alternative activity to the ship wreck run. Body dragging upwind isnt difficult at JI since the current isnt strong and with the experience level present, easy peasy for non water riders.........water kites (arcs, FSers, inflatos) will be avail for the water discipline...............

You know that's what he would wear for a competition. That's his "speed suit".

Could points be awarded, Olympics-style, for different, successful moves...like "The Superman," "The Corkscrew" and "The Skin Biopsy." :smug:

Could combine your idea and mougl's relay... Teams of three, one buggy, one atb, one surf board, and race a set amount of miles... Bonus points for feats of greatness

Seriously, I envisioned a baton race: the team's buggies/boards/whatever are set up half-way, or at turning point. The racer has to literally hand over his handles to the next guy. Or unhook his bar and pass it over - (arcs would be a distinct advantage for this!...hmmmm, better make them all the demo kites)

Mood: chilled....but ready to SAIL!

[*] posted on 1-3-2012 at 10:23 AM

that would be a quite the TRI for sure. i had a simpler thought

launch/ land timed race eliminates modalities but focus' on kites

HEAT ONE
FB , hot launch ... move up wind 50 YDS.... return down wind to original spot... drop and secure.

HEAT TWO
self launch(side) depower, move up wind 50yds return down wind to original spot drop and secure.

everybody hangs together, focus on safety elements.. easy tracking. tremendous learning for FB and depower same units for everyone, scudding kite action , up wind point of sail entry points into the sport and kite management up AND down wind.

everybody could do a heat in less than five minutes for easy effective time use.

conveys confidence in the pivotal points in kiting the START AND FINISH

not complex but fun for everyone
