No Liability
I came across this and thought it was interesting. This is in Wisconsin but you might want to check your local laws for something similar.
"There is a state statute out there that protects land owners from liability when there land is used for recreational use. I attached links to both a
article that sums it up and the statute as well. If any body was thinking of knocking on a door to get permision to use a farmers field I would think
to bring a copy of these and a case of beer for the guy to drink while he reads it."

EXCELLENT post
Thanks Sam for the REALLY GREAT link.
I had completely overlooked those types of statutes.
I'm strongly opposed to orgs such as the IKO and PASA which I believe want to create a situation where kiters MUST join in order to kite at PUBLIC
beaches.
Since one of BS arguments their proponents often advance as justification for their incredibly unconscionable Waivers and Release of Liability forms
is that they are necessary to reduce liability exposure, I expect that the referenced statutes will completely eliminate that argument.

land owners liability as above mentioned does offer some protection.
the PASA ,IKO coverage is for the passive bystander , not the land owner, but the land owner could go after you for damages to property.
like action between 2 parties on said property not including the owner of the property, but a third party action against land owner could find its
way.
like hunting accidents
its the public at large clashing, not just land owners.
