Removing playa dust from your kite
I posted this in my for sale thread for 2 arcs but wasn't sure everyone that might be interested in this tip I proved correct would look at the arc
thread again if they didn't need the kites.
I took the advice given a month ago or so on here about white vinegar taking the alkaline dust remaining on the kite after rinsing and it works like a
charm! I hung up the 10m synergy in the back yard so it wasn't touching anything and rinsed off the loose dust. This brought it to about 90% clean and
I was pretty happy with that. Then I decided to do a test area on the black to see if the vinegar would work. I just dampened a washcloth with the
vinegar and wiped it easily with the cotton cloth, then rinsed and let it dry. I came back about 15 minutes later after it dried and the test spot
looked like new fabric. The darker the color, the worse the dust leaves a film. I flew that synergy most of a day at nabx and now you can't tell it.
Hope it helps you restore your kites you take pride in the appearance of.

just wondering but does the water wash off the special coating on the fabric or does that only happen if you really scrub it, all will the vinegar do
any thing to it?

Black is the worst for it (playa dust.) So of course all of my vipers have black stripes. Thanks for the info, Bob. I will probbly leave the dust
on them though so it looks like I rode a little bit:bouncy:

Well, lots of my kites have touched water or needed rinsing off. I've never used any harsh detergents or scrubbed with anything I wouldn't rub on my
skin. The vinegar is for putting on your food and it not hurt you so it shouldn't be harsh enough to harm the fabric or coating. The vinegar is just
acidic enough to break the bonds of the highly alkaline soil from the playa. It felt and sounded new kite crispy when I put it away.
