Chris Krug #1

What the hell..

I've been waiting for this site to recognize Chris Krug's victory at the Mille Lacs Kite Crossing last week on my 24 syn, but nothing! So.. he won it! Rocked my 24 like it was a 12 in winds so light I decided to let him fly my kite and I'd cheer from the sidelines. Check out his racing style here:

Thanks for coming to MN Chris so the USA PL Snowkite team could reunite! We all wish you'll return quickly with Molly in Tow.

A.

That was impressive to see him working that thing in what appeared to be practically nothing - very familiar move grabbing the front lines and biting for an edge. Good going Chris!

Sneaky little bugger - he said he was desperate for a 24m Synergy and told me to go looking for one, but never even hinted why!

Good job that man!

On a (stirring) side note - interesting to see the LEIs drop from the sky, the FSer (?) fold it's tips but the Synergy go powering on through ...

Anyone got 2 24m Synergy's for sale?

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

I finally had a chance to watch it all the way through. What size were those LEIs? They looked big and long. I love it when I'm watching someone else fly and they do what I had just decided they ought to do. When Chris came into that traffic of stalling kites, I was thinking "better turn it down a tad". Poof. Done. Nice riding for sure.

Wonder if stacking big kites like that would catch even more of that minimal wind? Maybe stack that 24 with a "little" 19m.

I'd love to fly a 24 sometime when the conditions are right. On the water and in the buggy.

Way cool. I'd been checking the LAKAWA site (local MN riders) for info on the Crossing, but nothing. Until Aaron and Emily posted Chris' vid. Maybe all the tubers were embarassed to admit they couldn't keep it going...

Incredible skills. Really impressive, all the time. I try to learn something from every one of his posts or videos.

Chris shows his mad skills at 3:23 when he threads the needle to pass under another kite. If I had twice that space I would owe that guy some untangle time!!

Way to Go !

One question.

When I am riding way below the required wind like that I shorten my strap to about 85% . I still end up having to pump with the front lines by hand sometimes but feel ( for me ) it speeds things up a bit ?

I pass my kite to Rip' and the 1st thing he does is trim like you ? It works for me ? :dunno:

Why wouldn't you want to tighten up if you are finding you spend 50% of your time tugging fronts anyway? What is the advantage of having strap out in that situation? I can stall the kite to the point of backing down strap in so I'm stuck as to why you are better off more powered ?

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
