Valet Overnight Buggy Parking at JIBE!!

Thanks to Chris Rieke (PokiteTrash) we will have supervised overnight parking of buggies in the Blackbeards parking lot overlooking Kite Beach and the staging area for JIBE. Like NABX, where you can leave your buggies on the lake bed rather than disassemble and store them in your cars or racks every night, you can now leave your assembled buggy near the JIBE staging area every night.

You still have to take buggies off the beach (high tide, marauding bands of sea turtles ) and up the stairs or ramp, but this will be a lot easier option for many.

We have a permit from the Jekyll Island Authority for Chris to park his camper in the SE corner of the parking lot and we can leave assembled buggies on the lawn, corralled next to his camper for supervision. Chris's in-law Frank Devenny will be on hand to assist.

JIA thinks that this is a great idea and I thank them for their continued support.

Jekyll Island is not a great security risk as it is a gated state park and most of the residents are retirees / snowbirds. The $5 a day parking fee keeps out casual riff-raff and GA State Patrol keeps an eye on things with regular patrols at night. Just gotta remember to remind them about this arrangement so that they do not haul away Chris, Frank and family for illegal parking.

THAT SAID, I don't yet think there is any provision in my insurance policies for this and I cannot accept liability. But Chris has offered to run a cable and lock through the pile of buggies and I will help with that expense. They have offered to stay up at night in shifts and supervise, but I do not think it will be necessary. I don't even think the cable will be necessary but we will consider all needs and prudent options leading up to the event.

Thanks Chris and Frank! Chris, maybe you can find your Phantom 9m at the event!

BTW, full registration available on-line soon. Like 48 hours or less.

@ Rich, Spooky? In my best soup nazi voice: NO COOKIES FOR YOU!!
Double batches for everybody else.

@ flyjump, Not sure the turtles would appreciate the TP. Maybe something with a little less environmental impact? hmmmmm..........

  1. Liberally sprinkle turtle food on buggy seats....
  2. Wait a couple of hours (to allow for turtle speed) and take pictures of buggies and their proud new pilots.
Need.... more.... sleep....

Sam

Come on... checking the air pressure in your tires and tightening the trucks on the board won't take all night!
