After a grueling almost three months, I finally got in a session today. Winds looked good when I went to bed and this morning they dropped. For sure I
thought I was gonna get skunked, but wait.......
Sitting on the couch drinking some joe I checked the weather and there it was; +3 celsius a nice, clean 24km/h wind.:wee: I tossed the speed2 and
snowboard into the car and away I went.
My impatience got the best of me as I set up the kite in the middle of a wind shadow. Fought for about 20 minutes before I figured that out. I packed
up and moved to a better spot; and, after fighting with lines getting caught in the crunchy melted surface I was off to the races.
Before I got going I double checked the wind..a nice 22km/h. I was a bit underpowered so I had to work the kite a bit to build speed. Once up to pace
the kite would just sit there nicely..err as long as I didn't dig my nose into the snow causing me to fall on my face. Throwing the kite as fast as I
could, I was also able to pull off three or four 4-6 foot jumps and I bounced off some of the tiny drifts that hadn't melted from the past few warm
days.
One thing for sure is that fluffy dry snow is a ton nicer to ride than wet heavy melting snow. It was a bit of work to shake the slush from my board
if I let myself sink in too low. I also got myself soaked from sitting when I needed a break. I had to cut things short to get my son from school;
but, after two hour of riding I'm aching all over.
Can't wait till next time:tumble:
