Good day ladies and gentlemen!

After not kiting for like 7-8 months the snow has finally fallen and I believe it is time for me to hook back up to beast and get going on the snow. In order to get myself properly stoked for this season I want to get a new harness cuz my old one just isn't doin the job. I have been out of the scene for awhile so I'm wondering if there's any new harnesses out there to consider?

My style is big air and I snowboard. I've been riding with a waist harness because i had a crappy seat harness (radsail) back in the day and didn't like it. I haven't used the Access harness before but I do know that everyone seemed to love the Access XC. I see there are some issues with the latest Access harness.

Can anyone give me some insight on the latest and greatest harnesses? I just want to make my kiting experience easier and more comfortable. Thanks

What issues have you heard of? I have not heard of any..... I use the 2010 Access XC and love it....

Peter Lynn has 3 new harnesses that should be considered. I have the Divine Harness and love that it doesn't crowd any sensitive parts. No mashed potatoes as pokitetrash says.

seems like it's hard to get it tightened by yourself when it's newer?

Hey Bob, good to see ya man! Have you had a chance to use the divine harness in water/landboarding?

I'm not sure that I'd call it hard to tighten by yourself. But it does start out hard to tighten.

Hey FG! No on the water or landboard. I use a big heavy duty Mystic Warrior seat harness in the water, but the Divine would probably be fine. I have to tighten the straps trying to emphasize a high tow point or it can kinda pull from the legs.

My ozone harness required some effort to tighten but it wasn't insurmountable. Oddly enough, it also loosened itself while riding from time to time. They might've improved on that in the few years since I bought mine.

I haven't gotten the Divine yet but not having the grapes crushed is a nice feature and something to look forward to.

I decided to retire my old '05 Fusion after Dakine just sent me a new one. Haven't ridden it yet but lots of improvements over the old one. My Dakine treated me awesome and still has life in it with some minor touch up repairs. Hard to beat the durabilty.

the HO Zone harness fits big, and i think it needs time to break in. Dunno but TMDC96 asked me to tighten him up once and that was it for me. The webbing is pretty long too. Im not bashing it but i strongly suggest that you try one on first for sizing.

The Divine Harness is gear more to towards buggying, not saying it can be used for other kiting application but the curve might be a bit awkward.

on a budget I suggest the Base Harness and if you like Seat style harnesses the Radical.

again i strongly suggest that you try one on, or if you purchase online that he let you return for a different size. do not go by USA sizing, but more DUTCH / EURO sizing.

i also hear a lot guys using Climbing Harness too has it fits over clothing nicely

I thought the Ozone harness was very well made when I saw the new one Maven brought to Wildwood. If your a small guy like Rip or myself though it will probably be too big. I'm 150 lbs with a 29 waist and I had to bottom out all the straps. With winter clothes on I might have just made it. As long as your bigger than us though its a very nice harness. Mystic also makes some very nice harnesses. Like Rip said though, try before you buy because there are huge differences in fit and comfort.

thanks for the advice guys!! I found a buddy locally who has an access harness that i will be able to give a shot. Snow has fallen here in idaho and some have already gotten a piece of it. Soon for this guy. Yeeeehaw!

I have the xc snowkite harness. I love it.....well most of the time anyway. My gripes were that over a ten minute time period I have to re-tighten the harness as it loosens of. Nothing worse than having to land a kite after you just got started. And there is the squishing factor. Attaching a leash is a bit more of a task but not too bad. Pros for sure are the nice compact size and light weight. If you use it in the summer it might also be loose in the legs as its cut big for winter gear

If you don't like that harness you can also consider a Aaron Hadlow Pro Limit harness. I bought mine a month ago and now that its starting to loosen up a bit it's totally comfy. I'm on the larger side towards 34inch-35inch waist and would say that the large that I got is a bit tight for winter and would try a xl for that, but otherwise its top notch. But again you would have to try a fit to see what works for you.

Either of those choices are top notch though.

The PL Radical is not as buggy-specific as the Divine and is nice.

Mystic Blazer Snowkite harness is a good and popular choice, too. Has a slightly longer hook for poking through a snowsuit.

Does the Mystic Blazer have a spot for hooking up a leash. The photos I've seen make it look like there is no attachment points on the sides or back for a leash or towing a sled behind you. I'd be interested in trying one this season if it had those features, but other wise it's kind of a deal breaker for me. I like my Dakine harness that has those two D rings and I think the Ozone harness added points for towing as well.

It comes with a Dyneema Leash that is larks-headed on to the spreader bar and features a quick release.

There is no other tow-point or handle on the back

The Ozone harness now has an Amsteel (Dyneema?) line that runs from one side to the other around the back and is intended for towing gear.

FWIW, the leash on the Blazer is meant as a handle pass system and would go around back and to the other side or the spreader bar. As such you could tow from it.
