Chillin' on the schedule?

Getting excited about the bash and getting to see some up close and personal kite action but really looking forward to meeting all the nice people on PKF.

Do you all go out for a few at the end of a long windy day? Would LOVE to find out where the action is as we had to book at a Marriott (free nights) about 25 miles away. At the risk of sounding like a GIANT loser, I'll just say we don't want to miss out on sopping up any valuable knowledge or making any new friends (wow, sounded as corny as I thought) on Fri or Sat night.

We also can drink like champs so at least there is something we can compete in as newbs to kiting.

Sorry Chud. We're all SERIOUS kiters here and would never even think of indulging in such foolish after hour activities. Too much time is needed anylizing wind forecast sites and spending hours getting the buggies and gear ready and polished for battle. You'll soon find out that this preparation is what will be needed to even think of hanging with The KiteGuru. We're finally learning his secrets. Party days are long over my friend. ;-)

In my experience, a few people might have one or two while hanging out at the hotel in the evening. But most of us don't go out anywhere. We just hang out, enjoy the company, and discuss the days various events (the awesome and the ugly) :wee:.

Like Maven said we just sit around and b/s about the days happenings. Wildwood can wear you down! Can't wait to meet you guys! 15 days and I'm on the road!

Sorry if my comments were misconstrued! I just meant does anyone just chill and chat (which to my friends and I, usually involves a couple!) Hell, my ice hockey team competes regionally and nationally (serious stuff) and we still find time to go out and discuss the bad calls and strategy over a few :)

As there will be MANY buggies, kites, onlookers and more out on the beach, I very much doubt we'll even want to put anything in the air for fear of getting in the way with our mediocre-at-best kite "skills." Just figured we'd take it all in and try to learn as much as possible in the short few days.

Love Maven's idea of the named shirt but have a feeling it would not be needed for us as if we do put kites up, we won't need name tags as we'll be the ones frantically chasing them down the beach.:o

Looking forward to meeting you all as well.

We all "chill and chat" but there's only a few people who bring their wives/husbands along so I guess there won't be many that fit your definition:dunno:. I wouldn't be put off from flying and enjoying yourself though. Wildwood is huge with plenty of space for everyone. There is just as many newbie's as there are old pro's and everyone from my experience is always more than willing to answer questions and lend a helping hand. Relaxing is fun too but don't miss out on having a fun time flying. There's nothing to be intimidated about.

Good winds:thumbup:

Not sure the comments were really misconstrued. I think Jaymz comment was intended to be tongue in cheek.

As for putting kites in the air, static is easy, it's buggying that I sometimes feel that I don't dare head out without being in the way. The fall bash is usually better about it than the spring bash (fewer beach goers in late October) and some of it depends on the wind direction. But people aren't going to get upset about newbies having kites up, we were all there at one point or another (some of us still are).

I've already started the Wildwood NewB Diet - all carb and fats only.

Should the winds be nukin, I'll need the extra poundage to ensure I don't make a lofted exit!

Chud, you have a few smaller kites that will fit the bill if the winds are nukin! A lot of us were flying 3m kites at the spring bash. Bring what you got, you can may need them all. There will certainly be room for "noobs" on the beach. We will all do our best to make you feel comfortable, and help when you need! It really is a great bunch that you will meet!

You won't be the only to kick a couple back at the end of the evening as well.

Exactly what Rich said and the others too, everyone fly’s at the WBB with more importantly the beginners. There's a bunch of talent being passed around at this event, sit back and soak it in.

I personally would like to know how Dean and Dan ride on two wheels or how Paul can do a 360 so fast. TEACH ME PLEASE!!

I don’t know the actual room size yet but everyone is more than welcome hang at my place after the day’s events. There was some great grub and conversations had at recent bashes.

i know the (CRASH and LEARN method b.c. ) is tuff to get use to but i started out on handles unhooked. speed is what you want not power.when i get up on 2 wheels it's usually i'm in crash mod and over i go so i stick to keeping all tires on the ground. jumping on the ground board is different and i payed for it sunday at nahant .looking forward to see you and cory at w.w.b. b.oh ya sand is very important too.

Sunday was gusty here in RI, thinking it was the same in MA too. Decided against going out myself because of the awful time i had the weekend before in the same winds.

Was thinking of going to nahant on monday with the fiancee in tow seeing as though it is a holiday and all and i am trying to get him as excited as i am about the sport.

BYOB, please. The hang-out after the kiting is done is normally where everyone happens to be. Personally, I'm normally so burned-out after a long day kiting that I dont even feel like driving the 10 minutes to find somewhere to eat. I might go grab munchies to help the cookout that is going on near the hotel, but thats the most of it. Most folks bring their drinks with them and just kick back with everyone else. Please feel free to join in.

Nobody is going to give you a hard time about being a newbie. We all started there at one point or another. I think it more likely, that people will come over to help you out than anything else.

Hope to see you there.. :)

@Jaymz - considering all the hub-bub about a recent attempt to sell my apex, I don't take anyone's comments lightly anymore for fear of getting booted off PKF :puzzled:

Was thinking of getting a PKF shirt and going the maven route. OR, just might wear an old jersey that has "Chudalicious" across the back.
