Water conditions at Sunset Beach

What is the typical wave height and current conditions at Sunset Beach? Is it a good location for kitesurfing?

ill help you launch the kitecat but i want first ride.

you'll be fine there.

:::PS::::

have you figured out how we are going to help you transport it from Richmond, BC to Oregon???

i suggest that you ask Sunny Jim if you can leave it at his house until SOBB. however it will be driven a few times before you get it. hehehe.

sunset beach is a fantastic spot for downwinders.
If you're looking to wave ride or hit larger waves, there a spot 30mi south (Manzanita) that's the choice spot of the west coast. The water at sunset is pretty churny, and the waves are generally dense, but not huge. If you've comming up for sobb, totally bring water gear!

Do you wave ride, love big air, or cruise? If you like to do stuff other than cruise and it gets 25+ then we should take a field trup to manzanita :bigok:

The river beach has smoother waters and just as strong winds without having to fight the surf. It was where Peter Lynn sailed his boat when he came to an AKA convention a few years back. :kiss:

If the wind is blowing NW, then do a downwinder to there ;)

I am a novice on a kiteboard. I have had the most time on the board in the Sacramento Delta. It gets choppy and has swells up to a couple feet. The Spleen Session has been good even though the surface is not butter. I have just started to go upwind consistently and am working on improving turns. I have not tried the surf and don't have a board for it....yet. I have been interested in a OR Mako.
The boat may make a return visit.
