i would say you made a wise decision. I know i cant handle my 5m ace over 18-20. A 28mph gust would have, for lack of a better phrase, owned you

Yea Drew, no way I would get out in that with a 5m or better.
19mph and over plus testemax, you would shred that kite to pieces LOL. JK
Every time I've been spanked was the wind was upper teens and a 5m. Maybe one day I'll learn
How you doing on that slacklining thing?

really good actually... or so i feel, lol... i can hop up on the line and stand there... but havent started walking on it yet... while i was out
slacklining the wind wasnt bad... i could handle the wind (i think it was actually near the 25 mark)... but man... those gusts were absolute killers!!
when flying nebraska i've learned to dump the kite at a moments notice... but i think i wouldve been dumping that kite way to often yesterday... i
couldve flown, yesterday... i actually like the high wind days, but those gusts were a little too hooj... even for the gunshow ( ) and a gut full of testemax!!

Bah damned imperial (capitalist infidel) system ... what's that, 17 to 24 knots or about 9 to 13 m/s? Yeah #@%$#! that for a bad joke I'd be on my Cult with KKs ... or better yet, the Kitewing with elbow & knee
pads :D
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

1mph = (approx) .447 m/s
so bout 8.5 m/s with 12.5 m/s gusts... maybe higher lol

If the wind were stable, I would have to say border line. With the gusts its definably stoopid.

Ahhh, another thing I'm working on this year, Dumping the Kite.
I will let go at least twice every time I fly. No matter the wind. I got to get more used to it.
I'd like to have some kind of break free device for static flying hooked in. At a certain poundage of pull it would release the strop. Does something
like that exist?
Might need a football butt pad to go with it. LOL

i dont fly the twister hooked in in too many winds.... too easy to get lofted here in Nebraska... my second time hooked in with it... mild day mind
you 12-15mph.... a wicked gust grabbed me and slammed me hard and drug me bout 40 ft before i could get the strop out... nasty day in the fields that
day... no, if the gusts are shibby i just muscle it out and usually have a good time... if i have steady winds ill fly the twister up to 25.... but i
am REALLY cautious (and no strop), and at the slightest sign of bad news i bail... and in doing that, i havent had any bad days with the twister since
that infamouse strop/loft day... but gusts over 25, and i'm out
hard... your strop-break-away line would be sweet!!! i'll buy one lol!
side note: wile slacklining yesterday, i got hit with a gust that was well into the mid 30s... glad i wast flying

I found a post with a linkline I think it was called, just a while ago. I never knew.
Just been using rope strops but that has a quick release.
But it's still not a break away with a spring loaded poundage dial mechanism.
Hahahaha.
Hmmm, that slacklining would put me on my butt toooo fast.

hopefully i'll have a bug built... a surfboard built, and my atb... and a stack of kites..... dude... the more people kiting in Nebraska... the
happier i am!!!
If you need any help with this shindig, let me know.... i'll do all i can to promote it!!!!
btw--- where the hell do you fly in North Platte? Ive been there a few times for various reasons... and the only place i could find to fly was the
soccer complex south-west of the hospital.... and that was marginal at best..... it didnt help it was raining... but thats a seperate issues in
itself... lol

in north platte i fly in various fields outside of town, i have gottn to know some of the farmers around there. but i actualy moved back to the lake
to work at the campground this summer. so if ya ever wanna come down durring the week and fly we will have to set somthing up. i have a couple of
great spots here too.
as far as the wheels go unless you have a bigfoot the sand is too soft for mt. board or little buggy.
