Willcox Dry Lake?

Anyone know anything about Willcox Dry Lake in SE Arizona?

A ways out, but I'm planning a trip with a friend from Tuscon over to Marfa, TX in the fall. It looks on order of the size of Red Dry Lake up by Kingman (awesome buggying there, BTW).

I'll second that. He made the meanest riding tandem buggy ever. Hopefully whoever bought that thing will be coming back to NABX again and be bringing it.

And when you look at somebody that has some yrs behind them and you say to yourself that you can only hope the same for yourself... that's Rusty

Hope to see ya there Rusty, wasn't the same without ya last year. Or has it been 2 years now (see what I mean) :P

Several years ago driving out to nabx we stopped and checked out the lake there in Wilcox. We found the surface soft and powdery and I was told it was because of freezing and thawing from the winter. You need to stay on the west side of the railroad track that runs through it. The east side was used for training for ww2 and there are unexploded things out there. Maybe someone local can give you a better idea of conditions on the lake bed.

There is another lake bed off of I-10 in New Mexico close to the Arizonia state line. It is south of the I-10. Look for Playas New Mexico. The land sailors go out there and sail from time to time.

There is a dry lake in west Texas also. It is east of El Paso on the east side of Dell City.

Good luck.
