I may have found a new spot! : )

So I drove past this ominous dirt road to nowhere today and I was like, I wonder where that goes...
15 minutes later, I'm on google earth and I see a fairly wide open space (much better than anything else nearby).
After some research, it turns out this is scheduled to become a park and they just need some funding. I also know the people who live adjacent to the land and they say it is accessible to the public. Only a select few people even know of this place I'm pretty sure
I'll definitely be going here the next windy day

copy and paste this into google earth:
35.3521698323,-80.8084167636

The 'parS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K- goes from the road all the way back into the woods
tell me what you think!

P.S. The trees seem mildly annoying in the middle, but I'll get over that

Yeah, you might have found a good spot there, only problem are the trees around and in the middle. You'll have to see how much they make the wind turbulent.

yeah. hopefully they dont make too big of an issue. My old spot was more surrounded by trees than this one is though. I guess some wind directions will be better than others

Wow, sure looks promising. Thanks for sharing!
If it turns out to be good, and open the public, love to get it on LocalKiteSpots.com

Have you ever flown at this nearby spot? I think someone on PKF posted it.

yeah that is actually right next to my high school. I have flown there a few times but the wind can suck sometimes with the trees and school right there. Also, there is not that much room as there are bleachers and some hills in between all the soccer fields so it can be difficult to maneuver

edit: I wonder who put that spot in...

well it turns out that spot won't work. It's actually going to be a nature preserve so there is a lot of unkempt grass and the such.

But I have gotten permission via e-mail for using some open fields at a 'rural community'. There is a corn maze there in the fall and some dog trials and a Scottish festival held in April. The person there says I can use the open fields as long as someone is there (mon-sat) :D

I'll be meeting with the owner sometime soon to make sure, but so far it seems like a yes. Only thing is I will probably have to volunteer there.. but the spot seems good enough for that.

4402 Neck Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078
I'm pretty sure the left side field that looks like crops grow there has been converted to just an open field/parking area along with the fields in front of the house.
