conditions at slp Galveston

Has anyone been to slp in Galveston the past few weeks and can give a beach report on if there is a lot of loose sand. I was told over the summer that the sand was real loose and people were getting stuck. Will we be able to drive on the beach and camp for the pre-event of dead bird in a few weeks.

Thanks
Susan (npw goddess)

When we were down there in October, it was very rough and rutted, but fairly compact. I made it to our usual camping spot in my van, so if I didn't get stuck then nobody should. Overall conditions were pretty good.

I think people without bigfoots were struggling a bit, but able to use the entire beach.
