predicting winds
what do you guys use to predict the wind?
i have been using weather.com for the near future (hour-by-hour up to 48 hours ahead of time)
and accuweather for a 10 day prediction (leave room for error but a lot more accurate then i expected. usually the error margin is 5 mph and within 24
hours)
anyone have any better suggestions?
i live in des moines, ia and we have a super doppler radar.... don't know if that helps anything.

3-day forecast, is the best you can do.
anymore is dreaming
airports / air stations by far have the best records
usairnet.com has been most predictable for my area
seasonal tendencies should be known

Ive got tonnes better at this recently, i got a 20 pound ane... wind meter and have used it alot, now i can tell you the wind speed from just feeling
it lol
Usually i go on the met office website and check the winds in advance to see if it will be worth flying or not.

Since I'm a pilot, I just use aviation weather reports...usually METARs, TAFs, and FAs. They tend to be a little more detailed and accurate than other
stuff. If I just want a quick overview, I use weather underground (wunderground.com).
