Places to kite ski/board near Lake Tahoe, CA?
Hi all, where are your favorite spots to go kite skiing/boarding near Lake Tahoe, CA? Are there any places specialized for the sport?
I'm really looking forward to trying out kite skiing this winter.
Cheers,
-Tri

Check out Tahoe Mountain Sports for events, places to kite and lessons. http://www.tahoemountainsports.com/prod_detail_list/tahoe-ki...
I love the Tahoe and Eastern Sierras for spring skiing. I've skied in powder as late as the end of June and corn in July. Just drive to a pass, get
out of your car, climb and ski back. Its free and fun.
I love Nahant but rarely get there anymore.

Hi doneski,
Thanks for the link! When you go, are there other people flying their kites there too? I'm hoping to join a group or fly with others when I go.

I am going to be headed up to Tahoe in the next few weeks and was scoping out some places to try and find a day were I could do some flying. Anyone
fly at the places listed on Tahoe Mountain Sports and are there any other areas around there? I'm going to be up by North Tahoe for a few days then
in Reno for a few.

The El Nino is wreaking havoc on wind conditions at present throughout the entire Northern, Central California and Nevada region - that is to say
there isn't any wind. Any wind that does show up will most likely be accompanied by a storm and be rather lumpy and bumpy. There are some regulars
from the bay area that frequent the grass lake and mt. rose area, but I haven't heard much from them on the forum in a while. Even if there isn't any
wind at least you can enjoy the skiing and the beautiful area that is Tahoe. Have a good one.
we all believe is called the expansion

Bummer on the wind...I guess I'll look at the forecast when I get closer. Leaving for there on the 16th. Were getting insane amounts of snow for this
area, may have better luck snow kitting in DC.

Dtoast,
Look into the Reno area. I lived in South Lake for 4yrs and Reno, Gardnerville and even Carson City ALWAYS had killer wind!!! SPECIALLY
Gardnerville!!!!
When you look into these places you can pretty much head into the desert areas and find WIDE OPEN areas to play in!!! Carson City is roughly 45min
from Reno and Gardnerville is about an hour or so.
Have fun and good luck!!
