Kid's family was on "Wife Swap" Reality TV show - maybe a stunt? Doesn't seem to be a way to be in the "gondola" and wasn't said to be breached- kid
either was holding on to a rope, or is hiding. Maybe kid missed all the TV attention.

That's awful if the boy was really on it and fell to his death.
If he is hiding its awful that they beat the hell out of the balloon when it landed.
