Inland Kiters!
Well today was another bust without the right equipment. I havn't played in what seems like forever!!
Today i knew it was going to be gusty but like all week while i have been at work its been gusty in the afternoon (damm changing seasons)
so 8am i head out winds are 11mph. I get to the field check out my phone and winds supposedly are 12mph gusting to 21mph. don't even bother getting
my gear out of the car and decide to walk to the field.
All seems fine. so i head back to the car get my gear and head back to the field. Start setting up and unfold my 9.5 Montana.
WINDS FROM HELL ARRIVE!!!!!!!!! Check out my phone and it's 18mph gusting to 26mph. LOL I can't even get the kite to sit down. it's trying to take
off wrapping around me, getting all caught up in my harness. LOL damm bridle.
So I am like forget this. grab one end all aggravated and drag that kite back to my gear and throw my board on it. Sit for awhile and it's like
kicking..from 0 to 26mph.
PACKED IT UP!!!
I just wanna fly a kite. so i got my emergency single line HQ Sled in the bag for those days i just need to fly.
Flew that staked on a tent stake while i was just messing around with phone.
BORRRRRRIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!!
I bow to all inland kiters who fly in gusty condions in 0mph then 14mph to 5mph to 20mph. you are pros.
;-)

I think I'd prefer gusts over shifts - hard to launch or keep aloft with all the shifty shiftiness, if you catch my drift.

You need to add some velcro tabs to your inflate zipper to hold your lines on launch then. Take 1 inch of velcro, melt a hole in it. Then take a piece
of line and tie it to your inflate zipper.Run downwind line trough it and launch. Launch assit tabs made simple!..............aj

i live near the coast so i get the best of both worlds, the other day i flew inlandin fairly safe winds, 3 to 11 or something, i then went to a field
much closer to the coast and the wind was the same on the meter, yet it seemed alot stronger and powered up consistently, i love those constant winds
but then again i do enjoy the occasional gust to rip my shoulders out of their sockets..almost lol
