Please add me to the bottom of the list. I did not get a chance to fly it when it was in Norcal and just on board-starts at the time so it was not appropriate to try on the water. What is the final destination of the kite and what shape is it currently in?

I feel well taken care of. :tumble:

yes, I have been wanting to try a 12 or 10 arc for sure. Well see if we have snow by the time it arrives, might have to make it a landboarding test session. I'm okay with that. The spring winds can be strong, so it could be a great time to try it out.

We have OODLES of snow. I have an eight foot pile right outside my backdoor that's tempting me to strap on the snowboard

Truly, I'm shoveling about 5-10 cm a DAY here for the past two weeks.......we just need wind. Anyone got any? Seriously - it's been a BAD season for wind. Go figure.

Rip - assuming it makes it here in time for the festival and we get a chance to launch it should we send it south to Calgary with Canuck/Kitedelight enroute to PrairieWind? Then we just gotta swing it over to Denis and the trip is complete. Maybe we Albertans can all toss a toonie in the bag to split the shipping down to PW or over to Denis. (Smart huh? And people think it's the oil that makes Alberta rich ; )

PW - you have plans to be in or near Calgary anytime in the next few weeks?

The Charger didn't take flight this weekend so it's still here. The plan is to hope for wind in the next week or so and then get it down to Canuck in time for him to get under it and then get it to PW to take down to NABX. I'll keep the thread posted.

I did open the bag but no sooner had I inserted the spars, I got called away to help a young kiter and by the time I got back to the Charger I had witnessed the Venom 10 launch struggle so I rolled it up for another day and pulled the Frenzy out instead. As I said to Canuck, "Sometimes you just need to fly the snowkites."

ya, hope so. Couldn't be a better time for me as I got a really good session with the V13 yesterday so I am getting more familiar with it and what it can do. The winds are up lately, so could be good time to test it out the 12. Hope the snow sticks around on the lake with the warmer weather and strong winds. Snow is disappearing rapidly on the fields....gosh, might even get the charger 12 out with the landboard if this keeps up!

So, got the charger out once....in quite bad conditions. Winds were very up and was changing average speeds (moderate to large change) probably every 2-4 minutes, and at times every 1-2 minutes, with gusts of all types in between. Winds were probably ranging from 15-45kph in total (not at the same time of course), and maybe a bit stronger once or twice during some really strong walls of wind. The wind direction was probably the only thing that was stable that day. When I finally got out, it was only me and a guy on a 5m depower foil, and he was going at a reasonable pace too.

I have only flown my venom and a venom2, and clearly Peter Lynn has been busy since putting out the Venom. The hardwear and bar/lines system is a big improvement, especially the chicken loop. I really like that the front lines are drawn together near the kite, really helped in the gusty conditions keep the proper shape of the kite during sudden holes in the wind. I liked it so much I am wondering how I could do this to my current venom 13 set up. I could do without the clam cleat system though, not a fan of it.

I was told to make sure to have it nearly inflated before launching. I did, and launch went fine. Besides the lighter (and improved) bar pressure, 2 things jumped out at me. The steering felt a *bit* indirect (ie, very slight delay in kite reaction probably due to the pulleys), but turning was FAST. That combo is not a part of my automatic pilot skills, so...really had to watch what the kite was doing in the sky, especially in those winds. It did get better through the ride but never fully dialed in the kite - could have been the conditions though. The next thing that jumped out at me....it's an arc, but it has some teeth that the venom doesn't have. When the wind goes through it, it seems to builds power quicker. It almost felt paradoxical at times. I would have really liked to opportunity to get this out in smoother winds to see what it had for jumping. I only had the nerve to try some very small jumps in those conditions....and on one of them, the wind totally dropped me. So, glad I didn't do anything substantial. Even though the jumps were very small, I did like the float feeling it gave.

I didn't ride more than about an hour and a bit cause the conditions were going from bad to worse, and me and the other guy riding the 5m foil packed up at the same time. We talked earlier and I told him even though it as a 12, it powered like a smaller foil - I told him something equivalent to a 7-8 but I don't actually know for sure. But, still, he came over, gave a good look at the kite, and said he was very surprised I wasn't more powered up. This was on purpose of course, didn't want to push it in those conditions on a new kite. But, the fact that the charger could be ridden quite conservatively in those conditions was impressive.

So, honestly, not a fun day to get out and ride, but it did show me the capacity of the charger to still be able to handle junk winds even though its an aggressive kite. I can only imagine how much fun it would be in even smoother conditions. Thumbs up Peter Lynn, nice kite.

Thanks Ripsessionkites! What a great opportunity for kiters to be able to try the charger out.
