I spent most of last week on Jekyll but working in class for the Census Bureau at the Convention Center right next to the beach. I'm in a class but the skies are severe clear, the Bermuda High is sending in North-Easterlies and the afternoon sea breeze is kicking in; worse than blue balls not to be able to put up a kite.

But I have to say that the beach looks good and everything else is setting up nicely.

If you are planning to come but have not checked in yet, let me know so I can estimate a head count for supplies. Still waiting to hear from some of the usual suspects...

I'll get Josh and I signed up this week. Kite only, arriving on Weds and leaving Fri afternoon. Unfortunately we'll miss the Friday night dinner this year.

I'm calling the microtel tomorrow to ask about early check in. Planning on leaving here @ 3am to arrive by 11...dont want to get to the beach and have to leave a few hours into it to check in

No worries, the soft sand at the dunes will always stop the cars and there are enough environmentally concerned citizens around to make sure the beer cooler does not go in the drink.

You guys are killing me! I actually keep running a scenario through my head where I think about checking flights in, and then I start to think about getting the "right"gear there and how travel expenses ding my toy budget and that is when I slump over till next time I start over again. I know there would be a few extra kites there and maybe a vacant buggy from time to time but alas, it all adds up too much on family and finances for me to pull it off.

BB...when I told the Reactor that you wouldn't be there I think I heard it let out a long sigh followed by a wimper...

That would be the forecast since we have that weekend as well as every other May weekend booked up with family and inlaw stuff now that I actually got deep enough into this to check for feasibility. I still can't stop thinking about the possibilities though. Thanks for closing the gap guys.

Speaking of tearing equipment up...I just hope the new buggiers go home with buggies and bodies in 1 piece lol!!! Myself included

I expect a scrape or a bruise here or there and have a first aid kit for both people and kites.

HR, I took it the right way. You don't seem like the type guy that would go slinging insults around without a smile on your face! Even being larger than average and yes I do tend to get joy out of those slingshot turns, I've not ever torn anything up just by pushing the limits. No buggy damage ever and the only time I ever broke a line was when I had the kite killer/brake lines attached wrong. The equipment we use is built to take quite a bit of force.

Let's hope everyone goes home safe and with smiles on their faces.

EDIT: Oh and HR, if half my posts were helping you (no way) the other half was of me asking questions (even a month ago) trying to learn about this stuff. I'll always be a student first. Always something to learn. You new guys will learn alot at JIBE with all the other buggiers around. Seeing what they do and learning techniques from watching and discussing this stuff. I learned something at every group encounter.
